The Virgin Mary

So who's going to figure it all out for us? The atheists of U75? Luther? Cromwell? Or the teaching authority of the Church?

Avert your eyes if you must; another authoritative link in direct response to your question:

But did Jesus say that or did the people after Jesus say it to give themselves absolute power over his followers?

Show me the TikTok in which Jesus actually says it from his own mouth.

If Jesus did come again I'm positive he'd claim he was misquoted and Christians would call him a heretic and kill him.

It's in the Bible. Even Luther's (skinnier) version of it...

Jesus didn't write the Bible. Self interested priests did.
Numerous authors inspired by the Holy Spirit did. The Bible is a library, not a book. It's a matter of who you are going to trust to interpret it for you. Yourself: you're a Protestant. The Church: you're Catholic. Something else: you're something else

But religion is sectarian shite. Or it's pointless.

Why should we waste time arguing about the perpetual virginity of Mary, or the existence of saints. if it weren't important to arrive at the correct answer?

Not that there's any evidence for the correct answer, or even any evidence that of all the religions in the world, one of them is the correct answer.

I don't think the existence of a creative force that holds us to account after we die is very likely, but one never knows. Maybe bcuster will arrive in the afterlife and get a big suprise. 'You heretic, bcuster! You were supposed to wear a green bobble hat on Wednesdays, and avoid eating the flesh of left-handed animals! I am deeply disappointed, and it's off to hell for you!'

Lots of bad things are done in the name of government, including by high government officials and heads of state. No here has condemned embezzling clerks, corrupt politicians or evil heads of state with anything approaching the vigor and hatred they have shown for the Church

God is logical and good and merciful and cannot do anything against his nature.

A persons good faith effort at a life of objectively good behavior will not be mocked or punished by God

You've been here all of 5 minutes and clearly have no idea of what urban is and how the community has repeatedly condemned and actively combatted state injustices and their enablers, for more than two decades.

Then why should we waste time debating things for which there's no evidence? Or going to church, for thath matter?

Here's another question that bcuster won't answer.

People used to be executed for not believing what the church said. Now they aren't.

Is it right to put them to death, or not?

If it isn't, then the church was committing murder on a mass scale.

If the church can make mistakes like that, what are the odds that it's got it right now, just at the time you happen to be alive?

Humankind.

It sure doesn't come from a vengeful smiting mass murdering deity.
Aye, the Bible has to be one of the most evil books ever written. The God character, especially in the Old Testament, has to be up there with the most despicable mass murdering literary villains in the history of literature. Yet it's adherents call it The Good Book. The mind boggles at people basing their entire morality on the content of that wicked book.

And there is the entire Bible and everything associated with it succinctly dismissed.

You should have told us!
