The Virgin Mary

Fundamentalist it is, so.

Your links aren't read because you post them up with zero explanation and as some have pointed out, they are rubbish.
Just like your assumptions about any answers I may or may not choose to give you. You won't bully me...

Every church, of whatever denomination, thinks it practices the only True Christianity, and that all the others have got it wrong.

And every religion thinks it practices the only True Religion, and that all the others have got it wrong.

Evasion and fuckwittery from the religious types here. I've met people who believe in this or that religion, and some are quite clever, but it's only the dregs here. Stupid and dishonest to the core.

If they were created by the god they believe in, it must have been one with a massive hangover.

So even if one particular version is correct -- which, frankly, is a long shot -- an awful lot of people who got it almost right are going to be damned to all eternity. Which seems harsh.

Or maybe their god is merciful, and allows people who didn't pick the right horse into heaven along with the people who did, as long as their heart was in the right place. In which case, why bother about such matters at all? There's nothing remotely like evidence for any theological position.

Religious types never answer this question.

There are answers to every question along these lines in the Catholic Catechism. If you don't care to read the documents, there is the very popular video series hosted by Father Schmitz, which I've also linked.

The Catechism in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz) ALL Episodes

There is a radio show (available globally on the internet called Catholic Answers Catholic Answers Podcasts) where experts, Catholic apologists, theologians and clergy will gladly answer your questions

Catholic Radio - EWTN Catholic Radio Network | EWTN & Relevant Radio - America’s Talk Radio Network for Catholics & Home - Ave Maria Radio all regularly present live programs where your questions may be asked and answered

I am not an expert. I've attempted to present some materials, off thread topic, though they may be, in response to the rather hostile questions that have been thrown at me, but the blockheads here refuse to even open the links

similar to George III conduct regarding the colonists' sincere petitions

his ignorance and arrogance spelt doom for his empire...

What I think and my position on the issues is irrelevant. That is Cromwellianism or Lutheranism.
The position of the Catholic Church is what matters. I've given (some of the many) source materials

It is up to you to look at them, if you really want to learn about Catholicism

Translation: 'I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about, but I know I'm right and you're wrong.'

Can't get more ignorant and arrogant than that.

Extra points for dragging King George III into it, proving that you're fuckwitissimus.

will you look at any of the material I've presented? I won't be personally offended either way...

What on earth makes you think "Religious types" have any answers?

We are all floundering. You demand truth and honesty.
Well why not be honest yourself?
You have zero interest in knowing whether there is a Creator or not.
You've your mind made up.
Which is perfectly fine.
But you've personally attacked people here just because they have a belief system. The way you post...you'd swear the ordinary Catholics were standing up for the abuses that religious orders or priests committed but you've aligned people who have faith with those abusers. It's as if you feel that all religious people are horrible..abusive...shits.
I mean...on a simple law of averages that couldn't be true.
So be honest with your own motivations when you decide to trash someone's life and personality on here.

Pretty sure that's not true, lots of Eastern religions are happy to say other folks' versions are a similar message delivered in a local style; even the Catholic Church has friendly relations with the Orthodox Copts IIRC, and would allow a Catholic to take their communion (though the Coptic priest might not let you).

Maybe you could actually respond to that ouirdeaux?

Your personal attacks have been on posters who happen to have a belief system. You've been personal and nasty to some of us. .

So do you seriously believe that all religious people are evil? If not..then why are you so belligerent about their rights? You believe your right to not have faith trumps their right to a faith?
Are you claiming that all Muslims are evil? All Jews are evil? All Protestants are evil? All Catholics are evil? All religious people are evil?
That would be a massive claim.

As far as history goes...greed and revenge are the big motivators behind wars. The orchestrators might use "religion" as a reason but the big motivators for wars are greed, revenge, wanting resources and land grabbing. Religion is an easy difference. And ignorant people are afraid of difference.

I don't get any clickbait on it 🤔
I've had a look and I am none the wiser if it's kosher as an academic resource or whatever, although I might have mistook them for some other site. Clickbaity style is hardly unusual these days either. I think I'm wrong to laugh at them.

I've no idea.
It opens on my phone and I don't see any clickbait.
But if you're seeing stuff that's questionable then that's an issue.

I'm not sure praise is warranted to be honest.
I'm not trying to argue with ouirdeaux at all.. I would rather not feel that I need to..on here.
This place is usually friendly and caring. And I have never noticed ouirdeaux being anything other than fair until this week. So..maybe something triggered their posts...and if anything I wrote was triggering then I apologise to them. I'm not here to have arguments. I'm definitely not on urban to "spread the good news".. it's not what I joined for.. but at the same time I like people from all faiths and none.
I think I've possibly written too much now.

Eta I'm pretty certain I'm on a lot of ignore lists... 😁

I meant the overall quality of posts in this thread

The Roman Catholic Church as an organisation promoted anti-Jewish prejudice. "The Jews" were blamed for the death of Jesus.

There are certain dogmas that one needs to absolutely believe in; including the Assumption of and perpetual virginity of Mary (...nudging discussion back on topic:thumbs:) in order to properly call oneself "Catholic"
If something is a dogma, then no-one who works for the Church is allowed to question it. They are punished for doing so.

That's true.

Is that right? The Coptic Orthodox church have their own pope.

Cromwell seemed very fixed on killing Catholics, Irish ones on particular. But I'll ease up on it in an effort to help refocus the thread

In the meantime, would love to see you visit Ireland, and tell people there that they're not true Catholics.

As for being a "blockhead" for not clicking on your daft links, I can live with that.
