The Trump presidency

good piece here saying Bannon is copying Surkov, and the implications down the line...

Trump’s lies have a purpose. They are an assault on democracy.

Ufff...

The White House finally admits what we already knew about Donald Trump's inauguration

Most of Donald Trump’s inauguration speech was not written by him - as he suggested in a tweet - but by two of his top advisors.

Two days before his inauguration, Mr Trump tweeted a picture of him seemingly writing his speech three weeks before at the Winter White House in Mar-a-Lago.

But a White House official said much of the speech was actually written by Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon, according to the Wall Street Journal.

No surprise he didn't write it himself but...

I dunno, sounds entirely plausible. After all everybody else and their dog seems to think it's ok. In the corridors of power at least.
Sorry I'm not understanding your point?
The 'white house staffer' who made this point is clearly trying to draw a distinction in the last paragraph between the 'post-truth' Trump WH and previous WHs such as the one they worked in, thus they clearly don't believe it's ok (at least when Trump does it).

Melanoma Trump? That's uncalled for. Leave the woman alone, she never signed up for this. The woman's married to Trump for fucks sake, let her be.
The woman's married to Trump for fucks sake,
Possibly for many reasons, but doubtful for the above-;)

The lies and the disinformation have always been there but they are likely to be even larger and more grotesque under the new administration, subsequently the 'staffer' has lost the stomach for it. Or maybe even seen the light, lol.

Say what you like about the Norwegian door handle protector but that's a slightly less deceitful comb over.

Looking at the 82s spoof and this photo, seems both get their medal collection from the same supplier!

Yeah, she's the first head of state he's meeting with, apparently.

Should be fun, mentioned this elsewhere, but the buffoon doesn't like criticism and I have no doubt he will remember the scorn dumped on him by our elected representatives and the moves to have him banned from entering the country.
Wouldn't trust the twat an inch, the moving of Churchill's bust back into the Oval Office? His warm words? Wouldn't be a preparation to massively humiliate certain sections of Europe? esp the UK? for their totally acceptable repugnance of this gobshyte assuming the (at the moment) office of the most powerful political entity in the Western world.

it'll be a really interesting relationship... They both need each other now...trump wants the kudos, especially the state visit, plus brexit plus plus conitation, whereas May obviously needs to make the UK the 51st state. Yet she's going to have to smile politely as he does his thing.... Trump is going to be pretty toxic so she can't get too close..... Meaningful politics aside it'll be a spectacle for sure.

Aye, she had better not unless she is wearing leather knickers-;)

Iraqis at this tiny outpost near the frontlines of the ISIS battle warn that any attempt by the US to seize their oil would destabilize the country, and the region, and possibly undermine the war against ISIS he has described as a top priorities.

“There’s no way Trump could take the oil unless he launched a new military front and it be a new world war,” said Kareem Kashekh, a photographer who works for the Popular Mobilization Units, a new branch of Iraq’s armed forces consisting of former militiamen and volunteers fighting against ISIS.

“He cannot do it. He cannot succeed,” said Dawoud Ali, a 30-year-old Baghdad resident and a member of Ansar al-Aghida, one of the Shia militias fighting against ISIS. “Of course I would fight the Americans if they came for the oil.”
...
Yup, imagine what music Trump's blathering was to the IRGC's ears or for that matter IS.

The really funny thing about Trump's oil grabby statements at Langley is he probably believes that's what CIA employees want to hear.

While Bush coopted CIA leadership he had to send Porter Goss to Langley with a mission to muzzle US intel community dissenters going leaky particularly over the Pentagons loopy but pretty successful attempts (in PR terms) to link Saddam to 9-11. There was a major collision over the yellowcake scandal as well. It wouldn't surprise me if Trump stages a rerun of the Church Commission to enforce obedience.

Early days!

this nonsense is going to get very dull very quickly, if he's the biggest, best, most covered president, blah blah fucking blah.

drop the twat in a working class pub and let's see how his boorish bragging goes down. sadly we know how it would go down in a yuppie establishment.

Isn't that pretty contrived even fake? Trump was referring to how he would have done it, had he been in charge during the invasion of Iraq.
So some hacks gone to the middle of no where and said he wants to take your oil to some blokes in a trench, what do think about that?
