....well its Obama's appointed AG - whose shortly to be replaced by Jeff Sessions...
For those who are skim-reading, she is rebelling:
"At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful. Consequently, for as long as I am the Acting Attorney General, the Department of Justice will not present arguments in defense of the Executive Order, unless and until I become convinced that it is appropriate to do so."

I'm not sure that helps, Homeland won't release, so those held are held with no recourse to the law at all, under Kafka you could point out the absurdity to the judge

General Michael Flynns' Twitter is now deleted. CNN has some of the old offending tweets. I wonder if anything recently transpired.

His son has also come off after a weekend of posting this gem.

"Give me ur tired, ur poor, Ur huddled masses yearning 2 breathe free"

It's OUR time as Americans to BREATHE FREE! WE'RE TIRED!

So, floating around a few right wing US Twitter accounts this last week has been interesting. Tonight, everyone is up in arms about Starbucks goal of employing refugees and calling for a boycott and suddenly caring that veterans and poor people don't have jobs and how can they give them to foreigners. Obv, not exactly thinking Starbucks are heroes of the hour necessarily and might just like the cheap labour, but it's definitely pissed off the Trumpists (Trumpets?).

The other thing I hadn't been aware of before is an obsession on the Right with George Soros, who is allegedly bankrolling protestors etc. I guess as he's a well known liberal billionaire (and presumably being Jewish adds to the charge sheet). There's a lot of 'the Soros this' and 'the Soros that'.
Be careful hanging around in those places Cloo.

Apart from the obvious twattishness of it, is this dog-whistle holocaust denial, or am I imagining that?
Seen plenty Jewish commentators saying it's Holocaust Denial so I'll go with a "yes."

Otherwise, they'd have at least said sorry when called out. No, they're still insisting there's no need to mention Jews when marking the Holocaust.

Suspect it stuck in their craws that they felt obliged to make a statement at all.

I really wish CRI didn't post here. Sick of trying to read decent analysis and finding just breathless hysteria and multiple and contradictory conspiracy theories.

You're talking about the statement they released on Holocaust memorial day but the question was about Trump accusing Schumer of 'fake tears'.
I have not seen anyone say the statement amounted to holocaust denial, though this op ed, which I do agree with, suggests it's a foot in the door in that direction.
Personally i think the statement left out any mention of Jews because they did not want to alienate some of their more extreme supporters.

One theory being advanced by a friend on facebook:

Everyone is missing what is happening here.

Trump's Muslim ban getting slapped down by courts, the media condemning it, protesters coming out, politicians from both parties finally starting to speak up about it, all tee up something.

Now, with Steve Bannon on the NSC, and the DNI and Chair of the Joint Chiefs sidelined, the ONLY thing that needs to happen is for a big terrorist attack by a Muslim refugee, especially a green card holder. No previous president would ever have done this, but we've gone through the looking glass. That attack would give Trump and Bannon rhetorical space to say that not only are Muslims the problem, but also, politicians from both parties are a problem, the media is a problem, protesters are a problem, and the courts and judges are a problem. They've already prepared all of this. Kellyanne Conway was on TV this morning saying that the ruling of the "Obama appointee judge" doesn't affect the executive order, because the order is "preventing not detaining" and it's only a small percentage of people affected. They're TRYING to cause a Constitutional crisis and tee up the idea that national security, and executive law enforcement, trumps EVERY other consideration. Almost every Latin American country that copied our constitution fell to dictatorship because of that argument that national security trumps court rulings at some point in the last hundred years.

And since Trump's national security establishment has been hollowed out by purges and hiring freezes, and since the Constitution forbids military deployment within the US, Trump can say that government law enforcement isn't working, we need to contract out to private law enforcement.

Erik Prince, the former CEO of Blackwater, the private army that occupied Iraq, is reportedly "advising Trump from the shadows." His sister is Betsy DeVos, one of Trump's biggest donors. There is already a mercenary army waiting in the wings.

Russia won this election for Trump for a reason, and we are failing to appreciate the gravity of it. We are so much closer to zero hour than anyone in Washington seems to realize. Trump is already in violation of the emoluments clause. He MUST be impeached before it's too late.

Needs documentation/support, but not far-fetched at all, considering this dumpster fire of a fascist administration.

More conspiracy theory crap

Hope this isn't an accurate reading of the last few days but I suspect it is:
The Immigration Ban is a Headfake, and We’re Falling For It
This absolutely is spot on, unfortunate, but true. Actions to date have encouraged not alienated their supporter base, deepening divisions. They've nearly completed the takeover of all things security as well. They've proved they won't tolerate opposition.

There will be more demos, in cities. Their supporter base (mostly non urban) is already primed to despise the liberal, urban elites. Nearly everything I'd in place for sending the National guard into a city to quell some 'disturbance.' He's already namechecked Chicago.

Believe me, the reservists from white supremacist parts of Illinois will be raring to go.

What could possibly go wrong?

:-(

Good point.

This IS another possible scenario. I'm just pretty sure something drastic will happen, and soon. The administration will manufacture an incident if nothing happens spontaneously to justify martial law.

Folks are still talking prep for midterm elections but I'm thinking prep for civil war is more prudent.

I've heard hopeful speculation that this neo-fascist will continue to drop in popularity to the point the Repubs in congress will get rid of him to save their own skins before the 2018 mid term elections. They will have gotten what they and their donors wanted by then....environmental & worker safety regs gutted & tax cuts & they like Pence better anyway.
