You are missing Schneider's point. They've just started out with Obama's list of Muslim states that the US has policy headaches with. The likes of Frank Gafney would certainly want to expand it. Practically though that might require a large loop hole for security folk, arms customers and the very wealthy. Otherwise you are just shooting billion dollar toes of the US economy.I think the content of Bette Midler's tweet is important here, and how right she is.

Probably so. Saw a tweet from a lawyer trying to work on behalf of a US born US citizen of Jordanian heritage who's been questioned about his religious and political affiliations, had social media and emails searched and was deported.
Speaking honestly Urbanites, I wouldn't go anywhere near North America for the forseeable future. Shit's going down. Don't get caught in it.
uh huh.I think you are a bit of an obsessive

Don't care. Shitty term to use full stop.
On ABC Gates: 'Big Mistake' to Push Key Intelligence, Military Leaders Out of Security Council Principals Committee
Most people just picked on Bannon being added to the Sec Council. Gates dismisses that. He's right another fat, yappy, civilian matters little. Edging out technocrats on the other hand is a worrying sign. This looks like an insular "sofa government" in formation that doesn't want to hear unpleasant truths from any source.
Sadly, efforts at Impeachment will be thwarted in a GOP majority House of Representatives unless a shitload of Republican congressmen and women find their spines, and I can't see that happening. So, that leaves the other two . . .
I meant it's going to be a nightmare at airports with disruption, and anyone who isn't tickity boo with their contact list, social media histories, etc. being checked may find themselves on a plane back. Insurance doesn't cover things like this. WTF that has to do with the International Brigades is beyond me.Brits went to Spain and Portugal when they had fully fledged fascist systems, I think you are a bit of an obsessive, have you ever posted about poverty in the U.S, the rust belts which are in dire straits, America's Gulags, Food banks, U.S identity politics are not dominant in the rest of the West(yet)
Oh, and i do abhor Trump and his works, but some of the links you have provided have been just as divisive.

I rarely posted outside the funny pictures page, but pal, I know how sucky and unjust America has been, under all shades of executive, legislature and judiciary. The "oh, why are you so upset about this, but you're not saying your upset about that," comes straight out of Derailing for Dummies. Nah, not playing pal.
As an 'older' poster with no FB, no Smartphone & only anonymised twatter...do people (have to) freely give up all their SM content? Isn't it possible to travel with a 'clean' phone with apps removed etc?I meant it's going to be a nightmare at airports with disruption, and anyone who isn't tickity boo with their contact list, social media histories, etc. being checked may find themselves on a plane back. I rarely posted outside the funny pictures page until recently, but I know how sucky and unjust America has been, under all shades of executive, legislature and judiciary. Wish I shared your optimism. I'm old and cynical now.I'm hopeful. Trump was never popular among the GOP, but they went along with him in the end anyway, probably hoping that it was all an act and he would turn out to be moderate, and to hope that he would start to behave more serious and professional once in office. But so far Trump's Presidency really has been the worst case scenario imagined. He can't even control the staff inside the White House and everything has been a clusterfuck so far. If things continue on this trajectory towards chaos (and importantly, plummeting approval) the Republicans will turn against him and try to do some damage control.
Uh, okay.I meant on holidays, yes, your mates dad's went to a fascist state for a hol.
Ohh, that is so not what you said before you little fibber.Congratulations, you've found a table on Wikipedia.
I wasn't talking about the number of Executive Orders issued. I was talking about the fact that Trump started making public announcements about specific policies and actions as soon as the election result was called - for example telling all the Ambassadors and heads of the Nuclear programme that they must clear their desks by noon on swearing in day.
At least in my life time, I've never known of a PEOTUS to publicly undermind the POTUS, even if they are chomping at the bit to get in and start changes. Peaceful transition of power has always been seen as essential for stability and as a hallmark of democracy. Trump and his team acted like they were taking over from 9th November.
Hard to tell at this stage. I'm just going on what people on the ground are saying they and their clients are being asked. In theory one could refuse. But, the immigration officials can deny entry without giving any reason and you have no recourse. I have a hunch that they'll be more likely to scrutinise some people and not others, you know, the ones with "funny"names, brown skin and who've visited certain countries. As an 'older' poster with no FB & only anonymised twatter...do people (have to) freely give up all their SM content? Not casting any judgement...just a bit ignorant/curious.

There is no practical solution except a scheme to sequester information from service providers themselves. It's unworkable.Thanks.
It's just that on the media they've talked about demanding to trawl through FB etc...and I was wondering how they would react to responses like "I haven't got it"?
Probably.what, like 'Barack'?
I think it's designed to harass, to cause distress, not because it will yield any useful intelligence information - like say the purpose of police racial profiling. There is no practical solution except a scheme to sequester information from service providers themselves. It's unworkable.
