The stupidity of the anti-vaxx nutcases

https://archive.vn/n2lfr (paywall workaround)
Kevin Newman, a 31-year-old estate agent who voted for Donald Trump in November, said he had not been vaccinated because he doubted the severity of the virus.

“If Covid was really serious, we’d have to pay for the vaccine,” said Newman. “Everything else is expensive so why are they giving it out for free? It’s suspicious.”

have the government missed a trick by not offering the Kevins of the world the chance to pay for one vaccine, AZ say, while giving the rest of us another, like Pfizer, for free?

This happened today....

E2a jeez :(

It’s so deeply depressing. Were they like this before or has the pandemic created thousands and thousands of additional conspiracist extremists idk.
And this is in a country with one of the lowest rates of vaccine refusers compared to others in Europe the US etc.

holy shit

I've heard some just plain insanity at these things but not direct calls to hang medics.
Really dispiriting to see. I had thought these sort of crazed right-wing/libertarian extremist mass (rather than a few loons gathered by the bus shelter or clock tower) rallies were a US phenomenon. But apparently not. Note the Trump flag.

I really fucking hate the grifters and hatemongers for pouring such poison into the ears of my neighbours, and I also fucking hate the politicians for being the kind of corrupt and greedy hypocrites with no clue who (knowingly or otherwise) have encouraged this kind of pathological paranoia.

How do we heal this running sore in our society?

Sydney police fine hundreds of anti-lockdown protesters for ‘filthy, risky behaviour’

Prime minister denounces ‘selfish’ protesters who marched against coronavirus measures as police taskforce traces everyone who broke rules

At least tells them what others think of them.

I decided to meet some mates at Trafalgar Square yesterday before going on the Reclaim Pride march. When I got to Trafalgar Square I saw the crowds beginning to gather and only realised they were all there for an anti-vax demo when the weird signs started to arrive saying things like 'legalise freedom' and 'Icke was right'. I then decided to put my mask on to avoid covid and also avoid being recognised on a livestream since loads of wannabe influencers were filming the event. Naturally being one of the few people in the crowd with a mask on got me some weird looks and some muttered comments by a bloke wearing a 'save the children'/QAnon T-shirt.

About 5 minutes later I left, with the Square filling up but nowhere near as full as it looked in the videos I've seen. The only thing I found particularly jarring at the time was the sheer number of young kids in the crowd, which is obviously a shame.

Things kicking off in LA again, LA seems to have taken Portland's crown as "west coast city where dickheads are constantly starting shit". Anti-vaxxers have been picketing a restaurant that requires customers to be vaccinated:

Same freaks as from the breast cancer clinic recently. Don't think there's any proper stories about this latest shit yet, but here's one about a previous protest at the same place:
