The stupidity of the anti-vaxx nutcases

Quiz time: which ones of these do you consider the fucking truth?

Man Made climate change is a hoax?
There will a Great Reset?
Do sovereign Citizens have the correct interpretation of the law?
5G Mobile is harmful?
Aircraft are spraying mind-altering chemicals?
The Earth is flat?
Moon landings were fake?
You've missed out Lizard People, 9/11 was staged and the Illuminati.

We should add more nuance to all of this:

The original Covid19 virus was way more deadly than Omnicron.
You might want to learn the difference between a virus and a disease.
Though I somehow doubt you even know the difference between a virus and a bacterium.

I can link to an excellent online lecture series.

That's true. It's not a bad thing.

But putting many many cameras around the place with a centralised authority in charge of them, with the aim of sanctioning people who use their cars "too much" is incredibly dangerous. That's what people are protesting about.
That's not what is being proposed.

And, you know, there is a genuine problem with CCTV, facial recognition software and surveillance. U75 is one of the best places to discuss it and arrange protests against that side of society. I'm not comfortable with it either.

Unfortunately the genuine concerns are being swamped by conspiracy theory lunatics who want to equate everything to a wider/global plan. Everything good about protests against stop and search, CCTV intrusion etc, is being spoiled by YouTube addicts blathering on about the WEF and Davos.

Believe me. U75 knows and understands that "the State" monitors what it perhaps shouldn't. You don't need to dress it up in owl worship, biometric chips and/or population control. That's the problem with conspiracy theories: they make amazing stories while pushing out the actual truth.

It's only mid-afternoon, give them time.
I'm at home pissing about on the computer because Mrs Q is out with her mates (beyond the community wall) and I'm mildly bored on my own. But now I'm starting to doubt the reality of this. Is it really because the Overlords have banned me from leaving my designated area and the Love of My Life is currently in a re-education camp being brainwashed to spy on me when she returns.

It doesn't need to recognise faces, it just needs to recognise vechicle number plates. It won't care who drove the car, just who's the registered keeper.

Are you some sort of petrol-head ?
Or one of those people who enjoys recreational out-of-town shopping on a Sunday ?

StakerOne here is what Oxfordshire Council have to say, show and what you are saving is untrue. Joint statement from Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford City Council on Oxford’s traffic filters
Unless you would like to post links to material showing that oxford council are lying to prove us all wrong.
None of that contracdicts what I am saying nor would it pacify my concerns.

They can say that there are alternative ways in and out of a neighbourhood, but if we look at London as an example, more filters can be introduced.

So no, it's all going in the wrong direction.

Yeah, they're used at my work's car parks. Makes paying for parking easier. And you know what is the biggest scandal?

Is it:

A) Vehicle registration plate recognition cameras, or;
B) That you have to pay to use an NHS car park?

People should be able to drive their cars anytime they want, as much as they want.
It's a free society. If a council can sanction people for driving their cars 101 days of the year this year, they can do it for 51 days the next. No thanks.

What about those whose lives are shortened by exhaust fumes ?

Depends who runs the vechicle registration recognition cameras.

I've never paid for an NHS car park in all of my life. I'm an able bodied person.

But if you want me to prioritse my efforts and pick a hill to die on then I choose to die on the hill of true decentralised power.

DECENTRALISE EVERYTHING.

All centralised power is evil and corrupt.

So fuck up a centuries-old inner city area filled with grand buildings and make it less pleasant for everyone not in a car. just so you can knock 5 minutes off a car journey.

Are emotions a problem or not? Make your mind up please.

If emotions are a problem and that we should deal in facts, then change my mind through reasoning by dealing some facts my way rather than personal attacks.

Speaking of social media algorithms, ex twitter execs have admitted that twitter had a left leaning bias by design - what are you thoughts on that?
Here's a fact:

Holy crap.

I really wish some of this shit was real and I could hack your device and find where you live.
I so want to know your demographics ...

I have always considered the possibility that I'm wrong, unless you believe I'm lying about my own peronsal circrumstances.

I've had 4 Covid 19 vaccines. I'm wondering in hindshight whether I should really have taken them.

Of course I always consider the possibility that I could have been wrong.

How can you improve ANYTHING without being critical?

This is why free speech on the internet is a huge issue.

It's easy to say the loons on the internet should be gagged etc, but for that, someone has to be the final arbiter of the truth, with the power to shut people up, but when the watchman has the power, who watches the watchman?

In the UK, the people are sovereign, we decide ourselves what the fucking truth is and thank God, by design the internet will always allow people to say what they want and they can't be shut up.
stop hiding behind the free speach/critical thinking posturing. Anyone can roll that out to defend their position. The earth's flat - don't believe me, that's because you're against critical thinking and free speach.

You believe guff peddled to you by people's who view count pays their mortgages.

You’re all over the place. Go back to why you regret taking the vaccine. You still haven’t explained.

People should be able to walk or cycle anytime they want, as much as they want. Excessive car use is stopping that.

It's called redressing the balance. No conspiracy theory here, just fairness.

Well if you are going to go all binary.

Who has changed our lives in the most positive way, giving us all a voice:

1. All those geeks who worked day and night to give us the world wide web, that this website forum is hosted on.
2. Politicians churning out laws.

????

Decentralsied projects aimed at bringing more decentralised structure to society and tech stacks, not legislation drafted by a pack of corrupt cunts for the benefit of the state and large corporates, will improve are lives and bring fairness and equity to those who need it the both.

It's got that energy of 4am at teh festival and after the 10th spliff and 6 can of special brew and bongo circle, Harold with his dreadlocks starts to set teh worlds to rights

I have a car (rather expensive one at that) and so does Mrs Q so we have as many cars as people in the Q household. (She's out in mine by the way not hers) I too believe I have the right to use my car whenever I need to.
However I am quite happy to not use my car if I don't need to and for the bulk of shopping trips I make I don't need to. Quite happy to leave it parked in my drive and make the 10 min walk to either Aldi's or the Tesco with my environmentally friendly reusable bag (another outrageous socialist plot) in my hand to buy stuff. I'm not being forced to walk or say hello to my neighbours as I pass them, I don't feel my freedoms are being impinged upon by being encouraged to use the excellent facilities conveniently placed close to hand. I'm very lucky to live somewhere like this and quite happy for people in big cities to get the same standard of living as I do. Indeed since you can of course stick a tram stop or a subway station in the middle of each '15 min city' the residents can still enjoy the amenities of Big City Life whilst they're at it.
