One thing that I've also noticed is the number of right libertarians who say that they think of themselves as "classical liberals"....as if it makes a lot of difference. They're still Social Darwinists whatever they call themselves.

I went through a phase of trying to reason with them on Stormfront for a bit, as you say, totally soul destroying. In fact I was in danger of turning all Martin Smith - spending so long talking with them kind of made any kind of patriotism, no matter how benign, seem like fascism to me. Found myself getting suspicious of anyone in an England shirt - really daft stuff. It's amazing what talking to those nutters can do to you.

yep, it really distorts your idea of reality, makes you really hypersensitive. and you find yourself starting to wonder if your wrong and if there arguments have any merit. going around wondering whats in peoples heads and whether it's really true and some people's iq could really be 30 points lower etc etc etc. really not good for the mental health - amazingly bad in fact.

A useful analogy, I find, is that of a denial of service attack.
In a DoS attack the server takes time to figure out what to do with each deliberately broken packet sent to it. Send enough broken packets, which are easily and cheaply generated by a botnet, and the server becomes unavailable.
Similarly it takes the human equivalent of such a bot much less time and effort to copy and paste shite from some wingnut welfare site than it does to carefully demonstrate the flawed logic and misrepresented facts contained in that shite.
