The tactics of the Left are so predictable, especially where certain subjects are concerned. You give them a prod; shake them around a little and they stir into life. How
dare we criticise their cosy stranglehold on education?
Of course, the fact nobody can dispute my claim that the Left hold a broad monopoly of school and university history teaching speaks volumes.
“You are a Tory stooge,” says one. “Jago’s a professional Tory propagandist,” says another.
Yes, indeed, I work for a public relations firm. Yes, that PR firm is run by a former Fleet Street journalist and Conservative Party communications director. But
my article for the Telegraph was written from my first-hand experience, as a recent History and Politics graduate.
Is it really so surprising to these keyboard warriors, Left-wing tweeters and bloggers who condemn benefit curbs, tax cuts and reform of a failing National Curriculum, that a 21-year-old might actually get a job after finishing university? Or worse, that he might have a different outlook on life to their own?
It's a shame they feel it necessary to play the man and not the ball. It's a shame they seem to value only their own right to free speech and not that of others who hold a contrary view. Why not engage in the debate? Alas, it is a classic tactic of the Left.
