The Great Blanket of 2008 thread

I did that one. I just added some rows of fancy stitches into the basic pattern, there wasn't a plan or anything scientific, I just made it up as I went along.
patterns can work best that way,

anyway, i'm up to about 160

Was just talking to Eme and Innit about this the other day!

I need more wool. This project is much more stash- (and time!)consuming than I thought...

Got 21 squares at the moment, and half of these are available to swap (I made at least two similar looking ones of each colour combination, one for me and one to swap. :))

i just got a bunch of yarn as swap from ravelry to do this probably enough for another 40 squares, estiatng about 4 squares per 50g ball. no idea where I'm up to. Do know that i seem to have increaced the size of the projet for me by 50% as well. so I'm still only half way there.

That is a lot of squares, and still, as you say, quite a lot left to go.

How do you arrive at the figure of 288 - are you going to make three blankets, 96 squares each? I think I'll be aiming for something like those 96 squares as well - I do want a proper blanket, not just a knee warmer! But that's a long way off yet with the 23 I've got by now...

3 blankets, each 4x6 ft, 1 for each small parasitical lifeform

Oh, I have to be having a really good day before i start trying to claim to have perfect offspring.

then again, this may be that day, they are in the kitchen, cleaning up after making soda bread, without being asked

176 squares.

I took a bunch of pictures of the squares I knit yesterday and i was thinking that the idea of this project would make a good knitting article/pattern on a sustainable living site I go to regularly. I'd like to write it up as a leftovers project (sort of as a use up your stash sort of thing). Now considering it was a group idea, I thought I'd talk to you guys first.

I think it's a great idea toggle :)

I'm back into knitting squares now, have no other knitting projects started, and no college work... but not going to make the easter craft club for the big square swap :(

Any chance we can do another swap a few months down the line? Otherwise I'll end up with lots of coasters, or a funny looking scarf :D

If you do, prepare to have the piss taken out of you in Times Online :D

Yes, I reckon we should push the date back by a few months...Considering that not even toggle has her project finished (thanks to the ginormity of her task) and the rest of us are all way behind...if that's okay with everyone.

few months is fine, as long as you remember I'm due in mid july and won't want to be making meetings for a few weeks either side of that. so either early june or late august...

oh yeah, count up to 180

Lol... I know the feeling innit - I'm on a 4 week break with no assignments - so knitting as fast as I can :D

They look great toggle... think I can just about cover a coffee table with mine - but got a week off work and two very long train journeys ahead of me :)

I got the kids to spread them out for those photos, they already started discussing which they like the best

The yarn should be needle size 4-7, washable, wool/cotton/etc, no acrylics.
Are people happy with yarn that is mixture of wool and acrylic? Just realised the most recent lot I got (was on sale ) isn't as soft/nice as the other lot I've been using - but that was left over cashmerino.... all a bit worried that it's not good enough quality now :(

(Everything I'm using is machine washable at 40)

some blends feel nicer and behave nicer than some pure wools or expensive yarns

you cashmerino also includes microfibre, a fine fibred acrylic
