The Great Blanket of 2008 thread

They are dead easy, honest! They're a good project for beginning knitters who come to craft club without knowing how to knit.

So says the Paula Radcliffe of knitting design.... :D

(she's right of course!!)

I'm going to try and do this, the prospect of a pretty blanket at the end is very appealing and even I could get that many squares done in a year I think. Do we have a craft club meet soon so I can start one?

And just think how nice it will look in the back of your van!;)

We only met quite recently over easter, but I'm always up for a little relaxed knitting get-together.

Sounds good to me :)
I've made a few squares already, maybe I'll bring them and scare you all

W00t! You back then? Will be great to see you!!

PieEye, is that birthday party on the 6th all day or are you going away for it? Or could you come along earlier in the day? And what's that about space suits?:D

Space suit is for Duckie on saturday - Actionettes outfit ! Birthday party may be a picnic so I'll be out of action.

I'm back now!! Got back Sunday night but I've been dipping in and out of consciousness ever since to be honest - I overdid the pills perhaps on the plane?

If May 6th isn't good for everyone i'd be happy to host april 29th maybe after a Brockwell Park Community Gardens visit?

29th and 6th are both good for me... what's these gardens then?

Oh, and hello missus, welcome back :)

thanks! I sent this through the allotment group thingy - didn't you get it? you're on that right?

Sunday 29 April

11am-5pm

Brockwell Greenhouses

plant sale - all kinds of stuff. herbs, salads, flowers, veg, vines,
figs, fruit buses and cheesy nettle soup!

I'm good for either, too. And well up for the community gardens visit. I stumbled upon them for the first time a few weeks ago when I went for a walk with my family, but they had just closed for the day.

crosses fingers for himself actually being off work. of course, getting back home with any plants could proove interesting

check sale bins for oddballs and charity shops can have yarn. I'm getting 3-4 squares out of each 50g ball.

And yeah, I got knitting because i had a day off everything yesterday because everything ached and although my hands ached as well, (note to self, punching elbows can hurt), they didn't hurt as much as my knee and my back. Hence I knit about 10 squares, mainly out of some self striping 6 ply sock yarn I got in the post. I know that's cheating to get stripes, but it does look nice

thats the plan :) though we don't have many wool shops round here, the local one closed down :(
