The Alt-Right

Not sure if this is the right thread but still

It could be viewed as a dramatic demonstration of the concept of karma: a group of young boaters hurling homophobic abuse towards another vessel flying gay pride flags, then needing to be rescued by their intended victims when their own boat explodes into a ball of flame.

“We got them out of the water safely, we were nicer than they were,” the video’s author posted alongside the clip, noting that the three people rescued, two men and a woman, did not offer any thanks.

GOP Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona is set to host a fundraiser with Nick Fuentes, a far-right political commentator and streamer who was identified as a white supremacist by the FBI and is seen as the leader of a nationalist movement called the "Groyper Army."

A flier featuring the pair was distributed Monday evening on the Telegram channel America First Updates, which supports Fuentes' political live stream "America First." The date, time, and location of the event will be announced on July 1, said the flier.

Gosar has continually backed former President Donald Trump's debunked claims of a "rigged election" in 2020. He previously came under fire for referring to Covid-19 as the "Wuhan virus," which critics said was racist and xenophobic.

His fundraising partner-to-be, Fuentes, is a former YouTuber with a history of voicing extremist views while saying that he was joking, giving him the means to deflect criticism. Fuentes' use of irony was "important for giving a lot of cover and plausible deniability" for his views, he once said in a 2020 video.

In one YouTube livestream, he compared the Holocaust to baking cookies, but later claimed this was a "lampoon." Another video shows him saying that information and education on the Holocaust, racism, and genocide are part of a movement to make white Americans feel guilty.

He is also a leading voice in the groyper movement, whose name references the Pepe the Frog meme.

The far-right group reportedly heckled Donald Trump Jr. at a promotion for his book "Triggered" in 2019, forcing the event to be cut short. They were also one of the groups filmed storming the Capitol with a flag that carried Fuentes' America First logo.

Fuentes' YouTube channel was terminated last February for violating Google's hate speech policies, and he has since lost access to most social media platforms including Facebook, TikTok, Clubhouse, and another streaming platform called DLive.

This is not the first time Gosar has worked with Fuentes.

He previously spoke in February at the America First Political Action conference, a far-right event led and attended by Fuentes.

CNN reporter Donie O'Sullivan spoke with several supporters of former President Trump ahead of his first post-presidential rally on Saturday, many of whom told him they fully expect the real estate mogul to be reinstated before the end of the summer and warned of potential political violence in America if he is not.

"He didn't lose, I know he didn't lose," one woman told O'Sullivan, indicating she believes unfounded claims made by Trump and other Republicans that widespread voter fraud led to an unfair election that swung in President Biden's favor.

Many of the supporters who gathered for the Saturday rally in Wellington, Ohio, wore memorabilia and carried signs with slogans like "Trump won" and "Biden sucks" displayed across them.

"It's about all of them, and 2020 and the next one," another woman told O'Sullivan about her "Trump won" T-shirt.

O'Sullivan pressed the woman on the election's result, saying, "But he lost though in 2020, right?"

"No!" she responded.

A third group of Trump supporters indicated before the rally that the one message they hoped to hear from the former president is that "he's coming back."

Trump has reportedly been pressuring allies in conservative media and other confidants to push his claim that the election was stolen and suggest he will be reinstated as soon as August. There is no mechanism by which such a reinstatement could happen.

"He's coming back soon, and you guys are going down," a Trump supporter in Wellington identified as Ron told O'Sullivan, sparking laughter from others in his group. "The military already knows it was a fraud. He won by over 80 percent."

Ron continued: "He's coming back before the middle of August."

"And what if that doesn't happen?" O'Sullivan asked.

"We're going to be in a civil war because the militia will be taking over," the man responded.

these rallies are going well ...

read the whole thing, but here's the lede

Noted local criminal Mark McCloskey played host to a barbecue/political rally on Sunday afternoon, drawing tens of admirers to the sweltering parking lot of a closed outlet mall in St. Louis County to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the time he pulled a gun on a crowd of people who otherwise would never have noticed or cared he existed.

Tempted to dismiss them as completely barking, but have encountered so many online that are absolutely 100 percent believers that the election was stolen from them. It's like a religious belief :(

Biden even commented on this nonsensical idea that the militias can take on the us military by pointing out the vast gulf that exists between them regarding equipment, personnel and firepower.

The trio seemed to be preparing for a full-blown race war. Their goals were laid out in group chats underneath exhortations such as, “WISDOM: WE CAN ACCELERATE TODAY FOR A NEW WORLD TOMORROW,” and, “SP**CS AND NI***RS NEED TO HANG FROM TREES,” the warrant states. In one conversation, Garfield allegedly wrote, “Racism isn’t real, whites are the only humans.” In another, he discussed assassinating Arkansas state Sen. Stephanie Flowers, who is Black.

“Just fucking McVeigh the DNC,” Garfield, who boasted of his Atomwaffen connections, wrote in one message.

Tbf, it's not entirely a reassuring sign if the president is having to stress that. If I were a militia member, I'd be getting out that old misattributed to Gandhi quote.

I wouldn’t have that confidence, a huge imbalance of firepower didn’t stop the Taliban chasing them out of town.

It wouldn't be the same scenario though. Don't get me wrong here , I'm not trumpeting one side over the other. Militias vs the military would be more akin to poorly equipped Taliban vs well equipped Taliban: both sides would be fighting on home ground and both sides would be equally motivated and committed to their respective sides of the same ultimate cause -and it will only get worse once non combatants start getting caught in the crossfire...

Plus, logistically speaking, the length of the supply chain for the armed forces would be negligible and the supply of reinforcements and additional recruits would be abundant. Same goes for the other side ofc, but the us military has far greater available resources on hand at home than their potential domestic opponents...

And probably not prone to boasting and broadcasting their plans/dubious actions online...

On the US military vs militias thing: I think that anyone planning to win a shooting war with the US military is obviously daft, but there is imo some potential for power vacuums to open up in places where the state can't/won't provide adequate infrastructure. This stuff was discussed a bit in the US elections thread last year around here, and I don't think the situation is going to get any better as extreme weather becomes more common.

iirc, the militia was planning on the military being on their side.

Can't seem to find a link, but will keep looking.

eta: found it, link was further up on the page

Not perhaps exactly the right thread but this Twitter thread is worth a read. Granddaughter of Jean-Marie Le Pen reinvents herself with a slight name change and starts a training school for the right wing elite (ISSEP) in Lyon, France:

That’s got Bannon’s fingers all over it, especially with Kassam involved. US money is backing up this kind of organising in Europe, promoting this type of politics in as many states as possible.

" “I am here by special divine appearance, a living soul,” Pauline Bauer said in a court appearance via Zoom on June 11, according to a report from The Daily Beast. She did not want an attorney, she said. “I do not stand under the law. Under Genesis 1, God gave man dominion over the law." "

(when i did jury duty last, the defendant, who also rejected a lawyer, began his opening statement with "I am a child of Jehovah God". it didn't work for him, either.)
