The all boxing thread

Will he? I don't think he'll win but it won't exactly shock the world if he does. AJ is a great fighter imo.

It irks the ever living shit out of me that he's got this shot. He's hardly earned it
Is Fury dodging Usyk? Or does he think this is the British fight the fans want?

Usyk said he's not ready until next year I suppose, and Fury gotta fight someone

I can see Fury wanting a keep busy fight but AJ? There's got to be other much more worthy opponents.

Also read earlier that Eubank Snr is kicking off about Jnr making weight for the Benn fight. Thats either masterful mind games OR Jnr is heading for a battering.

I read he'd pulled him from the fight. But then Snr is a very strange guy, so I wouldn't be surprised if he declared it but did nothing of the sort

He's one-dimensional. A good fighter yes, but boxing Usyk and fighting Ruiz in his first fights with them were obvious bad choices. He can't fight going backwards, can't pace himself and he doesn't even seem nasty any more. Head movement - virtually none. Poor defence. Very predictable.

Gwynne Vs Woodruffe for the British lightweight championship

Channel 5 now…

Two 6 footer lightweights like watching two stick insects going at it

Liking Woodruffes loose style but it might get him KTFO

What a cracker tight as you like and put it all in last round

Defender normally gets the result but…

If you have access to DAZN a full card has started in the US of A. Good card too, culminating in canelo vs ggg at about 5am
Although now I'm knocking on 50 if I stay up all night watching boxing I feel it until about Thursday

What's wrong with an emphasis on journeymen? Afaiac they're the lifeblood of the sport.
On this card the differences seem more pronounced than usual. With the added element that the underdogs ain’t giving up

Are South American journeymen sought after for their tenacity (and perhaps different medical rules on how often they fight/amount of damage they can take)

TBH the JM are highlighting the fighters weaknesses more than anything

Anyone watch the card from York Hall on BT 1 last night?

I'm sure there was a fighter they said was 2-14

Canelo bossing this after 5 rounds
Suppose this is all the consequence of 2 dreadful decisions. GGG won the first fight by miles and most commentators had him winning the 2nd (I didn't see it). Had he got the decision in those fights there probably wouldn't have been a trilogy and he wouldn't have been fighting a younger man as a 40 year old. Had all that happened, we'd have been talking about GGG as close to being the pound for pound of this era. Canelo would still have been a great, but also a drug cheat.

That might be a bit mean spirited about Canelo, but there was certainly a sliding doors moment.
