The all boxing thread

just shows how poor the heavyweight division has been for the last 10 years or more

they were saying it was Gotti Vs ward of the heavy weight division err bit to much high praises
Totally agree, it was great but not great.

After fight two he complained that there was something in Fury's gloves. As one wag on YouTube put it: Wilder was right - in Fury's gloves there were two massive fists, attached to two massive arms, attached to a massive man with superior boxing skills

:D :D :D

it more amusing that the best heavy weight boxer in the world sounds like he could be this fella brother

On rewatching wilders gait went in the 7th, enough to really worry the ringside Doctor

Ref knew it and was vociferous about getting the doctor to check wilder

There’s fatigue and there’s neurological disruption, Wilders brain wasn’t talking to his feet properly

Realistically Wilder is finished, at least at this level. He won't get another shot and is heading for either an ignominious slide into obscurity with all the attendant money and neurological issues that accompany that descent or he has the good sense to walk away now and count his money.

you think some big fella was smacking in him in the head repeatly

as for the neurological issue for wilder, before Fury he was extremely rare taken above 9 rounds, he had a light carrer for a figher with 45 fights under his belt

his fight record is 42-2-1, 2 lose's and draw against the man people are calling the best fighter of his era.

he record is tarnished but his career is not over, unless Josha reclaims his belts he still in the top 3 of the division
don't see him going anywhere soonish, just has to finally find a trainer who can teach him not to just trying to knock people out with the right all the time
bit hard to do when it works for everyone but Fury

Not too sure about that in terms of Wilder's resume (nah, fuck it, I'm saying CV). An elderly Ortiz is about the best he's beaten and he's been well behind in a couple of fights.

Couple of random points:
At one level a great advert for boxing, but equally an awful advert in terms of Wilder being possibly concussed by the middle rounds and then being allowed to carry on. No way his corner were going to do it after the last fight, which is insanity in itself. He was floored early on, no doubt dehydrated and on wobbly legs, but hung around there till getting sparked out. Real risk of permanent damage. Did I read the ref invited the doc to have a look at him?

The other thing, I'm always amazed when Fury knocks someone down. He's got quick movement and a quick jab, but his power punches always look a bit ponderous, almost arm punches. Nothing like the speed of Wilder or Joshua say. Clearly he's got weight behind the punches and well, clearly I'm wrong because he does knock people out. It's just that roundhouse right looks actually quite slow.

I thought he was going to DDT Wilder, there was so much headlocking.

I really enjoyed the fight. I'm on hols and was randomly awake early and remembered to find a source, just in time for the third round.

For future reference, I have these in my favourites, and usually one of these always comes through for sport. Lots of fast finger action to get in the rhythm of closing screens and popups (and knowing what 'x' to click), but a youth years spent finding warez cracked software it was OK to navigate

I really enjoy boxing as a sport, bit I just can't stand boxing fans. I think watching it alone, without a load of (fellow ;) ) armchair experts turning the alpha up to 11 makes or much more enjoyable (present company etc  ).

Fair play to Fury. A perfectly imperfect giant of a man. Can I admit I was a bit  at how well he can sing, too?!

Ah, and citation required, but I heard reports of him partying in Vegas after the fight, just in case you didn't love/rate hime enough :D

My neighbour previously ran the biggest sports bar in town and for any big boxing would save me a special table away from the drunken coked up arseholes and protected by a bouncer position :D

Just had to walk through the crowd going in and out. Perfect

Went to Fury/Hammer at the O2 and the pissers were full of drunk middle aged blokes openly hoovering up Coke on any flat surface

Live fights are awful events, in the UK anyway. Always full of those types of punters.
I've been to dozens and dozens over the years and there's always been some kind of argy bargy.

I recall one fight i saw on telly, can't recall who was fighting, but the boxers paused briefly to watch a fight in the crowd.

Don't think I'd ever go to a big boxing match

Hands down the best place to watch live boxing in this country, if not the world is the York Hall over Bethnal Green.

Also, hands down is a shit boxing strategy.
Totally agree, amazing place to watch boxing. I’ve watched so many names there over the years - fav ever was Lewis, Tapia and Hatton.

But, anytime I’ve been there for a Pro event there’s always been the shit street Swanny’s. Never for the Ams or Army events tho’.

I even swam there

A few mates have had their pro debuts there and I've been backstage...its a place that oozes atmosphere and history. Plus Herol Graham greeted me by name there which still gives me a buzz. :D

Best night I ever had there as a fan was some time spent with Lloyd Honeyghan.

Through being a bag carrier for my mates (I ain't too proud!) I've met fighters, promoters, coaches and the like at all levels and fuck me sideways if the overwhelming majority of them aren't humble and genuine, including proper names.

Aside from both Chris Eubank Snr and Jnr. Both of them are pricks. :D

Evening all.

So so much choice but Round 11 of this fight is as brutal and skilful and raw as any round ever.

Ali vs Smokin Joe
