Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson is an embarrassment to journalism

This is the politest way I could word what I feel about this loathsome piece of shit, intentionally and enthusiastically peddling fake news about the 'boy on the hospital floor' story.

Despite the claim that the photo was staged having been acknowledged as false, it has continued to spread on both Facebook and Twitter, largely through individual low-follower accounts cutting and pasting the original text to share with their friends.

One version, posted by a man who claims to work for the British army’s intelligence corps, has received 2,000 shares on Facebook; another, from a person saying they were a former soldier, has received a further 500.

The same claim was shared on Twitter, where it was spread by much more significant accounts. The Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson retweeted screenshots of the Facebook page to her followers twice, telling them “I presume this is genuine”, and adding later that the photo was “100% faked”. Her posts have received thousands of retweets between them.

According to the researcher Marc Owen Jones, Pearson is “perhaps the most influential proponent of the faked floor theory”, although a tweet from the former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen sent to Piers Morgan may have been seen by more people as a one-off.

Woman whose account spread fake news about boy on hospital floor claims she was hacked
Her Twitter feed is just repeating the same lies from as many sources as possible.

So the original source of the fake news on facebook claims her account was hacked.

She has deleted her account but funnily enough her son just so happens to be friends with...

She also claimed a while back that the chap who confronted Boris in the hospital a few months back (his daughter had been ill) had a microphone on him and was a plant. The microphone was actually the guys belt.

Pearson has blocked the editor of the Yorkshire post, after he posted a (very polite) explanation of what he had done to ensure his original story was true. It’s quite the temper tantrum
Local papers tend to do much better at journalism than the nationals by actually doing their jobs properly and making sure their stories check out with verifiable sources.

I think in her twisted miserable worldview being clinically obese is an advantage, a backstory, like being poor or disabled or, if you read the piece, a goth apparently

Definitely. She clearly has the attitude that white middle class people have it so rough these days. I'm sure if you looked long enough you find her bemoaning the fact that there aren't MOWO awards or a white history month.

This doesn't constitute a death threat but I would be really happy if she got fatally run over by a large goth on the school run

I went to the Nunhead Cemetary Open Day a couple of years ago and saw a load of goths (I didn't know there were as many as that left tbh) leaving in a souped up hearse.

Not that relevant maybe but I'm amused by the image of them driving over her.

Like the time I sent the hackney gazette a copy of cw's 'touch of class' magazine and the following week their editorial came word for word from an article I'd written about cctv

Nah. They print exactly what the police tell them to print, and check jack shit.

Yet still they seem to be doing a better job at holding the government to account over austerity than the nationals in their metropolitan snugs

She was well caught out on that one. An embarrassment.

Not really. More people will see the lie than its exposure, so it's a win. Not like the Telegraph is going to sack her for a lack of integrity is it? I daresay the very word is banned by their house style guide.
