Suella Braverman's time is up.

I wonder what the chances of any of this coming back to bite her are? You would hope the voices from the homeless charities might be enough to embarrass her and shut her up. But probably not.
Depends what you mean. It’s not going to embarrass her, for sure. She’s unembarrassable. And it’s not going to bite her in terms of her standing in the Tory party, because the membership love it. But it’s definitely going to bite the Tories on the arse from an electoral perspective. The last time they came to be seen as “The Nasty Party” in the public imagination, they lost in a landslide and stayed gone for a further two elections. It took “Call me Dave” and his corporate instincts for embracing liberalism to bring them back from the brink. Middle England will put up with and even endorse a lot of vile shit but even they still have their limits. Trying to capture the extreme right cedes an awful lot of centre-right ground.

Saw a clip of PMQs on C4News yesterday; christ she was loving the attention that Starmer gave her...literally talking over rat-boy to address her directly.

Piece yesterday saying she's throwing around the inflammatory statements to get fired so she can stand for party leader. Not quite sure how that works though.

The following was broadcast earlier today and some people may find it informative:

Is Braverman trying to get sacked? Some Tory insiders think so

Suella Braverman accused of ‘trying to get fired’ with ‘dangerous’ Palestine protest remarks

Game plan now exposed?

how is this get sacked stand for party leader thing supposed to work?
Get sacked, then get the requisite number of letters sent to challenge the leadership?
A year out from a general election.
Hilarious though that would be.

I think it's get sacked and wait for there to be a leadership vote immediately after the election (ie not actually challenge the leader).

You're publicly dissociating yourself from the existing regime, which in the present circumstances results in status as a potential leader to implement an alternative. Which, in the case of the Tory party as it stands, means a mindless lurch to the right in order to appeal to the most swivel eyed, noisy, and looniest of Tories is probably a bit of a win.

“Claiming that a double standard exists within the Met, she asked: "Right-wing and nationalist protesters who engage in aggression are rightly met with a stern response yet pro-Palestinian mobs displaying almost identical behaviour are largely ignored, even when clearly breaking the law?"”

Yes the Metropolitan Police and their famous bias in favour of left wing protests.

I'm sure Anushka said she was up by 34%. Was only half taking notice tbh. Only watched Peston for Mick lynch knowing they'd ask about him marching at the weekend for Palestine.
Blinky bill, aka Bridget phillipson was on and twitching more than usual as Mick was looking at her :D

She has now gone beyond the level of "normal" rightwing lunacy and entered the realm of utterly unbelieveable insanity

London Gaza rally: Braverman accuses Met of bias over Gaza marches

Home Secretary Suella Braverman has accused the Metropolitan Police of "playing favourites" over its handling of pro-Palestinian protests. Writing in The Times, she said right-wing protests that became aggressive were often stopped, while "pro-Palestinian mobs" were permitted.

So, who is bias here, Rowley for pointing out there's no legal basis for banning the march, or Braverman for banging on about it when...

She married Rael Braverman, a manager of the Mercedes-Benz Group, whom Braverman described as a "very proud member of the Jewish community", in February 2018 at the House of Commons. Rael Braverman lived in Israel, and Suella Braverman told The Jewish Chronicle that she has "close family members who serve in the IDF" LINK

From the same article:

During Covid, why was it that lockdown objectors were given no quarter by public order police yet Black Lives Matters demonstrators were enabled, allowed to break rules and even greeted with officers taking the knee?

That's the exact oppopsite of what happened though. It was the Sarah Everard vigil the cops came down hardest on. The lockdown cranks were given free reign.
