Spurs v Lazio Violence last night.

fucking hell. these are the same Lazio fans who came to London and racially abused spurs players a few weeks ago then. Classy club.

I reckon a fine of just under 3% of the gate receipts should cover it. Come on UEFA, show 'em who's boss

A quick google confirms this is very much a recurring theme in Rome:

2001: In both February and December Liverpool fans stabbed in buttocks
2006: Three Middlesbrough fans stabbed, including one in buttocks
2007: In April and December matches, several Manchester United fans stabbed in buttocks
2009: Manchester United fans stabbed in buttocks near ground
2009: Arsenal fans hijacked on mini bus and stabbed in buttocks

And thats just the English teams that have visited - plenty more examples of local games ending in violence and other foreign temas finding trouble there.

You'd think that the fans would have a good claim against UEFA for doing nothing about it for such a time. That might make them bring in changes.

surely this should be titled 'lazio v spurs violence' a) because it was away, and b) because the violence does not seem to have been yids on ultras, but ultras on yids.

Same thing happened when we went to Palermo in 2006. Blokes on motorbikes driving past and "stabbing people in the buttocks."

Seems to be a thing.

Not good. But why the arse?

Is it for practical reasons, or is it symbolic? Or maybe Freudian?

Big muscles there. Unlikely to kill anybody.

Plus probably a bit humiliating.

"According to those who have researched the subject, a stab wound in the buttocks may be chosen as it is seen as not likely to be life-threatening, but is humiliating and painful for the victim. Experts believe the cultural tradition may even be linked to medieval duelling where slashing an opponent's buttocks was supposedly considered very skilful. "Puncicate" is mainly about hurting rival fans but not killing them, says John Foot, a professor of modern Italian history at University College London and an author on Italian football. "They target the buttocks because the victim is not likely to die. These people don't want to kill and be known as murderers, they want to show they can hurt their rivals and get away with it."

Was this mentioned in the movie 'the long good friday' ? though rather than stabbed you were slashed across the buttocks - every time you sat down, the stitches would pull apart?

The Italians have been doing this to each other for decades, it's because it's usually a non life threatening injury.

I've heard the term juking used to mean dancing by bumming a girl.

You really wouldn't want to get the two concepts mixed up.

:)

Isn't that grinding? Anyway if it's juking now I think we might be back to your freudian interpretation of the stab in the bum so it fits the knife-stabbing usage.
