ground pepperIs there any repellent you can spray on that hessian material? It would be a shame if it got holes in.
If it's off the wall you can take it to a welding/car repair place and get them to sand blast it.This is PeelAway 1 (the nastier more potent one of two products) after about 8 hours. I'd already scraped a layer or two off the top section hence the improved result there. It works pretty well, I guess I could have used more or left it longer.
It isn't 'peel away' though, it leaves a sticky goo and it's tricky to remove that from cast iron without water. Used a bit and dried it off, hopefully quickly enough so it doesn't rust.
Been using a sample pot but it's worked well enough that I'll buy a big tub.

I did wonder about this. The trouble is it weighs a ton and is potentially fragile so I think it's best just waddled around and dealt with in-situ.If it's off the wall you can take it to a welding/car repair place and get them to sand blast it.
Some people will come round and blast it in-situ too. I've done a few of these by hand with nitromors and they took a fuckin age!I did wonder about this. The trouble is it weighs a ton and is potentially fragile so I think it's best just waddled around and dealt with in-situ.
I’m firmly in camp go for it. it’s so satisfying....I've just been to view a house and I love it but it needs so much work doing to it.
We would never have the money to just do it all in one go, it would take years!
My head is saying not to touch it...but it could be amazing.
Could you live in it without doing anything? It really is all about area and will probably go up in value whatever.I've just been to view a house and I love it but it needs so much work doing to it.

I would just paint it to match the cupboard I think. Let it blend in. Stick a chair in front. Gone! We’ve sat in the dining room a bit more than usual this weekend and decided to finally sort it out and decorate it. The floor is really dodgy but we probably won’t touch that, we have some really ugly pipework to box in and this monstrosity below.
It used to be a table that attached to the wall. We took the table off but can’t really remove what’s left as I suspect half the chimney breast will come with it. There’s possibly also asbestos behind that MDF so we don’t really want to touch it.
How the fuck am I going to cover that up in a way that doesn’t look horrendous? I really don’t want one of Mr Looby’s DIY jobs, he still hasn’t reassembled the table he dismantled and hacked apart several years ago.
Any ideas? I was thinking a radiator cover type thing but it goes to the floor and round the sides too.
the street up the road is dumping a full garden set. going out to get the table now after doing runs for the chairs
stil thinking about building palett based garden furnitue tho for summer
That’s a decent design aesthetic for some old pallets, Zapp.
That's a thing of beauty and yes you should, if not insanely expensive.Finished the wardrobe. Wondering if I should get a matching full length mirror on the other door...

Pretty much built it myself with some initial help from a mate. He got me started with the structure and some of the mechanisms. That's a thing of beauty and yes you should, if not insanely expensive.
Did you build the whole thing yourself or was it self-assembly?
Looks like impressive work. How did you manage to cut the semicircular notch out of the mirror?Pretty much built it myself with some initial help from a mate. He got me started with the structure and some of the mechanisms.
In truth building stuff is insanely expensive. Mass production is incredible at bringing down cost. Wood, fixings, glue and treatment are very expensive. Paying people to help is expensive. But I'm pleased with the result.
Knitting and sewing are just the same. Much pricier than just going to the shop and buying a jumper or a jacket. But... what you make is not the equivalent of what you would have bought. It's the equivalent of something you couldn't have afforded.Pretty much built it myself with some initial help from a mate. He got me started with the structure and some of the mechanisms.

I ordered the mirrors from a local firm. They cut out the semi circle.Looks like impressive work. How did you manage to cut the semicircular notch out of the mirror?
