Show us yer house and house-related meddlings

Bed arrived! Some slight scratches on the headboard part but for the side that faces the wall so I can cope with that. Mountains of Styrofoam packing though. Will post pictures when it's done.

Oh ffs, bed came with no fixings and no instructions. As the the packing had clearly been damaged and repatched with tape, they must have fallen out somewhere.

I'm going to contact Wayfair...

Who were quite helpful so this must happen a lot. The hardware pack has been requested from the manufacturer of the bed, who will send it out direct within the next week or so. The instructions will be emailed to me.

Teal is so in right now - over the last 4 months I've used teal more than any other colour (including white/off white shades). Everyone wants teal!

i've loved teal for years and years, thankfully the husband also likes it. It was my bridesmaids colours in 2010 and if we need a default colour / accent colour for anything housey, teal is our go to colour, duck egg blue also works if we want it a shade lighter!

Hello thread, the hardware for the bed arrived and I have assembled the bed at last! Hurrah!

Here is the finished spare room with new bed, and the quilt that's taken me a year to finish:

My sister had this with a pair of bedside chests of drawers, where one had faulty handle. Instead of just sending the hardware, they sent 2 new chests of drawers, refused to take the old ones away, and told her to throw them in the bin! Very strange company.

I still have curtains to hang in the spare room but I am waiting on a curtain pole coming first. I have bought some magnetic tie backs for the curtains which are quite sparkly.

Replaced a 5 year old ugly bedside cabinet with a much nicer 9 drawer today.

It's claimed that wrapping new things in tin foil for a while will deter cats from them even after it's removed. I think this is probably on a par with homeopathy but you can try.

I built a wood store out of pallets. All I can say is that five years on, I can still feel the pain of trying to crowbar those feckin’ planks out. Horrible material to work with!

I'll give this a go. I'm not into spraying my girls with substance to deter them from doing something.

Front room ceiling before (thumbnail) and after pictures. After repeated lateness/not turning up/non communicativeness, electricians finally finished today after week and a half gap, and left various shoddy finishing to some other little jobs and the actually positioning of the central light on the rose  I'm going to let gsv have a go at them as haven't the energy and sadly I think tradesmen take men more seriously for this shit.

Otherwise basically happy with lights, it's an amazing improvement to the room.
