I think Pelosi is sharper than that. She knows how to get under Trump's skin. But yes, she knows how the political "machine" works. Even if you don't like that machine, it's there and better to have someone who can steer it into a position where it may be possible to fix or replace it later on. Otherwise, it's like kicking the wheels of a big truck, thinking one day that will make it collapse.
See, according to "received wisdom," because I think Pelosi is the right person to be in the job she's in right now, I'm supposed to hate Ocasio-Cortez. I'm certainly not supposed to be saying she's cleverly getting people talking about issues that otherwise probably would have stayed on the margins, and this will contribute to the Democratic party's progression and (if we ever get beyond the Trump hellhole shit) make a positive difference to America and the world. No, old people and young people aren't supposed to understand each other or work together, and women in senior positions have to be backstabbing each other. It's the way of the world, right?
