Ron DeSantis' Time is Up

Is Ron actually one of the bad guys from captain planet?

I had to search Captain Planet. The characters look familiar and I vaguely remember the intro... but I can't tell you anything beyond that, sad to say. I don't think I may have seen that series?

Don't worry that question was more for the universe rather than for you.

Shippou-Sensei I'm not worried about the Captain Planet question. I was just making a general comment about recognizing the show but not recognizing the show. So references to it would be lost on me.

Not alarming in the slightest

the NYT had it too

When the initial boot camp began in June, Mr. Newhouse and six other volunteers who spoke to The Times said they were surprised to find that the training syllabus included such lessons as rappelling off buildings and learning to use a compass to navigate out of the woods, skills they said seemed better suited to training for war.

One of the recruits, who like most of the others did not want to be named because of fear of reprisals, described the training as more like a “military fantasy camp” than the practical instruction expected in topics such as how to respond to hurricanes.

The volunteers said the training seemed poorly structured, with an inordinate amount of time spent, as one of them described it, “marching in fields.”

They know it's going to turn violent so they're trying to get ahead of it.

His time may be drawing near, at any rate. Big donors are beginning to desert him over his policies on things like abortion and gender and sexuality. Griffin and Peltz are the latest. And he relies heavily on big donors:
Filings with the Federal Election Commission show just a sixth of the $20.1mn raised by DeSantis in the second quarter came from small donors. The candidate burnt through nearly $8mn in five weeks of campaigning.
FT article today:

Billionaire donors cool on Ron DeSantis over rightwing policies

Ken Griffin and Nelson Peltz are rethinking support for Florida governor’s presidential bid

paywall busted:

(De Santis took video down "after Nazi images found".

With first comment:
“Found” makes it sound like it was hidden, or even subtle. It was most of the screen for several seconds. I think it was on screen longer than any other single image in the entire video.
and second:
It’s not even the most nazi part of the video.

The “plot” of the video is that wojak is sad that trump doesn’t hate queer people or immigrants enough. Then DeSantis walks in with a military uniform, there’s lots of rockets (mostly NASA footage, it looks like, ironically), objectified women, violence, anti-queer headlines and American flags. Wojak is ecstatic and quickly dons a military uniform. And THEN the nazis march into the sunset.

The entire point of the video is nazis are great. I don’t give a crap if the campaign really didn’t know about the symbolism at the end - the whole thing is nazi through and through, and his campaign team had zero issues retweeting it. That’s all you need to know about this sick fuck.

I wonder whether if he does drop out of the presidency race he'll redouble his efforts to Nazify Florida.

I just can't believe that instead of just saying "Donald Trump is old" over and over until he wins the election and then switches to "Joe Biden is old and I am not Donald Trump", him and the political geniuses receiving a fortune to advise him have gone down the road they have.

Ron DeSantis wants Disney tourists to suffer a mass shooting:

whoa, busted

"Senior aides to Ron DeSantis oversaw the campaign’s high-risk strategy of laundering incendiary videos produced by their staff through allied anonymous Twitter accounts, a set of internal campaign communications obtained by Semafor reveals.

The videos include two that have created recurring distractions for his campaign in recent weeks: an anti-Trump video that featured a fascist symbol, and another that attacked Donald Trump for past comments supportive of LGBT rights.

The meme-filled videos emerged from a Signal channel called “War Room Creative Ideas,” screenshots of which were shared with Semafor and whose authenticity was confirmed by a second source familiar with the campaign."

2. New Florida law denies some immigrants the right to practice law

It's all my mother talked about last week.. how Dreamers can't practice law in the state after DeathSantis signed a bill to keep people from being lawyers.

3. Florida Students Now Need Parental Permission to Use Nicknames, 'Alternate' Names Under New Ron DeSantis Rule

Yahoo Entertainment? This is Entertainment???????

By way of theory and concept, DeSanctimonious needs to heed his own law and go by Ronald now, instead of enforcing "no nicknames" on everyone else. "Do as I say, not as I do"????

Smug bastard.

(petee ) Families have a hard enough time with other things in life, they don't need the government stepping in and saying the child can't go by a nickname in school. What's the point of being able to provide a name to someone and have the advantage of shortening it to something different? Although, last place I worked at, we'd take the piss out of any guy with the name of Richard who went by Dick. If he was "being a dick", we'd say "Don't be a Richard!".

(Nine Bob Note ) Has a nice ring to it, eh? ;)
