Pics from your State Sanctioned Exercise.

I visited my mum last weekend. She still lives in the house we moved to in 1970, when this field was a muddy recently capped rubbish dump. They tried to turn it into sports pitches, building changing rooms which, to us kids great excitement, filled with methane from the rotting rubbish below and were quickly demolished. Now the saplings of my childhood are fully grown trees and the field is being managed for the wildlife, with new areas being planted. It's great to see somewhere that's actually better than it used to be ;)

Since I may not fancy cycling in a thunderstorm later, I walked a mile and a half around the park.
I was especially struck by how spotlessly clean the lime trees were.
Last year they were plastered in nail galls and aphids with black mould everywhere and with a ladybird larva sitting on many of the leaves...
I'm guessing the cold winter did for them all ...
