I assume it had been culled and the garoch left - many landowners, like the forestry commission, insist on it, as it's a valuable food source for raptors, Foxes, Badgers etc...

Pseudonarcissus, thank you, wiki tells me ... It's a lovely view and a great pic.. to see the beach empty too... and I get to learn something new for today.. .

0700 on a cloudy Sunday. The communities in the poor northern zone charter busses for a day at the beach, and just like when we were kids on a day trip to Morecambe, they are damned well going to enjoy it, whatever the weather!
