Aren't UBA just playing into the hands of Racists and justifying soft racialist arguments around 'mass' immigration and at least supporting a white paternalistic agenda.
However both these groups have a certain amount of support from disaffected people mostly young, neither are 'fascist' or fit easily into united front perspective on how to deal with them, but could be major players in the games to come.
I'll have a look at the facebook site later as the work pc bans this and comment more. I have no problem with marches against religious or political extremism tbh. Wouldn't it be interesting if the Left turned up and tried to engage with those who aren't complete Nazis as well as preventing racial disturbances.
As much as I detest the Far Right for obvious reasons, I do know people through football who are sometimes swayed by BNP doctrine. Sometimes it's a lot more effective to engage in other ways than physical confrontation.

This is a tough one. At one level they are the competition for the hearts and minds of genuinely disaffected Muslims. They are tapping into a mood and a current which is genuinely anti- imperialist. Providing answers and leadership and earning respect in the absence of secular answers to genuine concerns.
I don't think a dialogue with them is attractive or, at this point, necessary. However vocal., they are tiny and I question the extent of their support.
Rather Muslim anti racists should be providing alternative answers to those who are pissed off on the one hand by issues such as Iraq and Gaza and on the other hand want to confront what was in effect an attempted racist pogrom.
I don't in principle oppose a United Front with al-Muhajiroun on a single issue such as recent racist march. But it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

You are aware that al-Muhajiroun are pretty dodgy on certain topics such as Holocaust Denial & Capital Punishment for Homosexuality,have quite reactionary and strucuralist ideas about marriage sexuality marriage contraception/termination of pregnancy etc. in theory if not practice.
It would probably be close to an equivalent of Youth Defence in the case of Irish Nationalism
