pancakes. sweet v savoury?

I will be pancaking tomorrow as I seem to miss it almost every year. As my wife is completely uninterested in sweet pancakes I got some ham and some gouda and will be attempting some sort of savoury variation. Any ideas or advice? I'm a lemon and sugar fan and have up till now considered savoury pancakes ungodly and obscene.

What flour are you all using for savory ones? Not something I've ever made, but remember enjoying them on a family holiday to France as a kid.

Urgh - fucking disgusting things I would not allow near my mouth (and same for Yorkshires)...but will, of course, be fulfilling maternal duty by swishing a pint of batter around and drowning resulting solidified gruel with quantities of honey and lemon - a hatefully contrasting combination which also makes me shudder.

For my own amusement, I add a tablespoon of buckwheat flour to the flour mix...if only to annoy the traditionalist gluttons in my household.

I'm planning a jubilee pancake bonanza for my Mum and brother. I've got cherry pie filling and some vanilla ice cream to go with.

OH and son will have lemon and sugar and Nutella.

I remember having vinegar and sugar as a kid. :hmm:

Wondering what a pancake would turn out like if chocolate powder added to the mix or if chocolate milk were used?

Pancake frenzy starting now.
I've the batter ready to go...
Making 50 of them for 6 people.
Thin pancakes.. ...cos I detest thick ones.

Toppings/fillings
1. Lemon and castor sugar
2. Nutella and orange segments (no stringy bits.)
3. Brandy butter and a drizzle of dark chocolate.
4. Mashed banana with honey ( one child wants this)
5. Maple syrup and vanilla ice cream

I am starving so I may well eat while I cook

Im not partaking this this year as I'm being good and still trying to lose weight, but i used to do a savoury thing with pancakes stuffed with ricotta and spinach and then rolled up and covered in a spicy tomato sauce, was lush, or simply with ham and cheese, a bit of rocket on the side and drizzled with a good balsamic!

Your house must smell wonderful :)

Here you go pancake freaks - there used to be an abomination dedicated to nowt else but nasty pancakes. Thankfully it is long gone.

The Dutch Pancake House was like nowhere else

Although I see it sold neonwilderness's favourite recipe:

Everyone had a favourite topping - their regular pancake. Bacon, cheese and sweetcorn anyone?

Love both. Bacon and cheese is good, traditional lemon and sugar and butter v nice as well.

We didn't have pancakes on Tuesday, this week has been a bit up in the air tbh, what with visiting Radar in vet hospital, day shifts, night shifts, and funerals - it's been a mess. I will try to make pancakes tomorrow. (I know you're supposed to make them to use up the good shit before fasting for lent, but I'm not christian so that doesn't really apply - just that my husband, who is also non-christian, will take any excuse to eat pancakes, or to pester me into making them)
