'Vintage mundane'

Yes that's lovely, but it looks like you've missed the point of the thread which is this:
I think his delight in such mundanity negates that very (personal) mundanity. It’s no longer mundane cos he finds it exciting

I know that. You’re very condescending and dismissive of other people’s experiences, you know.
I just express myself differently ffs

Blimey, that's rich coming from you.

it seems to me that you express yourself with great certainty, and you often seem either affronted or withering if someone expresses opinions that are at odds with yours. Or you act bewildered, like it can’t be possible that your view isn't the one that makes most sense. And when you don’t like what someone says, you reach for the put down. I used to think you were being funny, making a joke, but then I realised it's your way.

I disagree that I’m dismissive. My lived experience is the opposite of that, often to my detriment. I tend to take everyone seriously. I feel that I give equal weight to all opinions, and use that to inform my own. If you think otherwise, that’s okay. I don’t agree, but I’m also okay with you disagreeing. It makes no difference to me off the boards, and I mostly try not to engage with you on here cos I know, strongly and certainly, that you disagree with me about almost everything. I know you find me ridiculous, or something close to it.

I‘m already regretting the first post that started this, which I made as a joke, and which has gotten us into this cul de sac.

I’m very confused now. Some sort of beef coming from you. Ok, whatever.
But i feel as if I’m being attacked just for being me, so thanks for that

TBF, and I can't think of a way to express this kindly even though I'd like to, but that description does fit you very well too. I'm not perfect either so accept it as just the way you are. And I kinda thought you knew it about yourself. There are worse things to be.

OU I have always thought you deliberately and knowingly took a (possibly ironic) "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" stance about especially aesthetic and cultural stuff, and knew that - and would be OK with a bit of pushback on it.

There is no malice intended in any of my responses to you.

OU I’m sorry I've made you feel attacked.
fwiw, I’m not attacking you. I don’t feel anger or antagonism. I don’t have any beef with you, but I am generally wary of you.

I didn’t like being called condescending and dismissive and I responded to that. I’ve never heard that before and I don’t think of myself that way, but maybe I need to look at that.

You called me on the first “joke” post I made, and I responded to that too.

I did not get that from you at all. And you possibly correctly surmised my manner of conversing on the internet, though. But what do i know? I’m always the last to find out.

Anyway, vintage mundane. That wallpaper with flamingos all over it that was to be found in many a 70s/80s bathroom

I had one of those T shirts that were heat sensitive and gave a different coloured inprint when you touched them. That's how cool I was.

They are but still definitely 'retro' if not vintage. Maybe another discussion...

Although not a dictionary definition, the antique dealer/auction definition of "Vintage" is an item between 20 and 100 years old.
"Antique" is something older than that.

"Retro" typically means a modern item that is made in the style of a former era in fashion, or to appear as if it is "Vintage".

So there is a particular definition of the term relevant to this thread.

Thanks for the clarification!

So, an item made in the 80s is vintage...but if you can but an exact replica now...what then?! 🤔
