'Vintage mundane'

yes I had a couple of them, too

Also have a meat safe after looking for one for years because my mum & dad had one and I loved it dearly. Looks like a newer version of this with lighter wood - mine has a mesh at the sides and glass only in the door - I've often thought of taking out the glass and replacing it with mesh because those are my favourite but know I never will.

My sister used to bring this sort of thing back from her holidays in Majorca. My mum had a musical sherry display thing, with small, yellow glasses around the side.

Tourist trinkets were a big thing. Plastic bulls, castanets, crocheted swan mats, fans, flamenco dancer dolls, oil and vinegar bottles that would just gather dust, donkeys with panniers.

In time the exciting souvenirs were everywhere, and now they're mundane charity shop bric a brac.

The objects that you mention bring to mind this song:

My parents still have one tucked away in the garage. I would like to have it but Ms starfish is not too keen.

It's this crockery set for me. When I was growing up, this was considered the height of sophistication by my parents. They called it "The Sand Gold Set" and I have no idea why because that's not what it's called at all.

I keep looking at it with a view to buying it to use now but then I realise that it's actually not particularly nice at all.

Some people still really like the poker playing dogs and the rich couple being rude to the servants though.
I do.
I bought ''a friend in need'' printed on canvas with some birthday money a few years ago.
There are at least 8 paintings in the set.
It is proudly displayed on my wall above the telly.

I also had the poster version of one of the dogs playing pool pictures when I was a kid.

Coolidge's dog paintings are some of the most reproduced out there and the originals can fetch over $500k.
