pancakes. sweet v savoury?

hash tag

Books, not bombs
It's nearly shrove Tuesday again and yet again, the pancakes will be down to me.
i have always been plain, simple and traditional. This year, I was thinking about savoury ones which would mean just buying, preparing and cooking one course as opposed to a main followed by pancakes. Is this a Good, popular idea or is it me being lazy?

Why not have savoury pancakes followed by sweet pancakes?

Pancakes are, for, me, like herbal tea or taking the dogs out in the rain. Never as good as you tell yourself they'll be.

Me and my daughter have already declined Tuesday's fare. Wife and son will be participating - sweet only.

I make a mean savoury pancake bake, which basically involves making a chunky tomato and veg sauce, rolling cooked pancakes round the veg, pouring the remaining sauce over the top, topping with brie or similar and browning in the oven.

Then obviously you have to have sweet ones for pudding as well.

At least 3 cheese and ham covers the savoury, followed by as many sweet ones as I can manage without being sick.

Favourite sweet is maple syrup and bourbon, might try adding marshmallow to that this year.

Lemon and sugar for me :)

I don't really have a sweet tooth, that is about as sweet as it gets - and I like the sharpness/freshness of lemon in there tbh

I make a pile of 12 or so and split 8/4 btw savoury and sweet. Savoury will be chilli sauce and cheese, sweet will be lemon & sugar and may also roll one up with marmalade as I’ve got a surfeit of the stuff at the moment.

Sweet is my preference. Maple syrup or nutella and Banana/Strawberry is my preference.

I do like a savoury pancake too though. With bacon and cheese.

I've had lovely savoury ones with bacon and maple syrup and others with mushrooms in a creamy white sauce (lots of black pepper).
This year it will be Nutella with orange followed by bog standard lemon and sugar.

I make a lasagne style pancake thingy. ..layers of pancakes, meat sauce, white sauce topped with cheese, you get the gist.
Banoffee ones for afters.
And then pass out in a carb coma on the settee for the rest of the night  :D
