see it's pretty obvious, Remainers and EU interests will stop at nothing to keep Britain in - latest attempt by Spain to tie UK into EU using Gibraltar as an excuse - same game as played with NI, and previously Scotland

this is why no-deal is the only 'deal' - time to march on!

time for you to jog on

On the original subject of the thread, is this really an attempt to 'tie the UK into the EU', or is it Spain attempting to ensure it gets its way over Gibraltar?

And if the deal is rewritten to satisfy Spain, won't that open the way to other countries demanding that changes are made to suit them?

Gibraltar is a fairly special case, one that the leavers completely ignored during the referendum, obviously. Not sure how anyone else could realistically raise such demands.

Not sure if it's directly relevant to UK leaving the EU though. It also appears to have been ignored by those drawing up the 585 page agreement.

Of course it's relevant! Spain has claimed it, and is going to continue to claim it, since we nicked it. the need for direct negotiation with them, and the EU, over future relationships seems as clear as it is for NI.

I’m happy to let Spain have Gibraltar. Anyone else?

I think it's a dick move to hold a whole country to ransom over a tiny spit of land inhabited by people who overwhelmingly want to stay British, and also that as likesfish says there's no moral case for the Spanish government to make while they still retain control of Ceuta and Melilla.
