Muthafreakin goddam dried wax on an a fabric-covered armchair

scalyboy

They’re taking the piss now
I’m looking to get rid of the bastard on Freecycle or on Urban’s Recycle your Stuff section, but I just know people won’t want to bother coming here in a vehicle if they know it’s got various wax stains (which are my own fault, for back in the day when I used to practice ceremonial magick at home and had lots of lit candles on the go - no wonder I’ve got a respiratory illness, suffering Christ, all that paraffin wax, I must’ve been mad)

Anyway, I can’t shift these little patches of wax - have tried a blunt knife, and wire wool, but I fear the latter may just end up damaging the fabric. So any tips would be gratefully welcomed.

I think one difficulty is it’s a textured fabric (see third pic), not a flat surface.

Maybe I should just offer it as a comfy armchair that needs reupholstering.
It is very comfortable, I bought it years ago from a firm based in the north east who make them to individual specifications. I just don’t have the room for it any more, sadly.

It does look very comfy
It is! I was just now sitting in it, reading a copy of Viz, and thinking how good it is for my bad back, the osteoarthritis etc … but sadly I have no room for it any more (bought a sofa) 🙁
I’d be pleased if it went to a good home, to someone who could benefit from it.

Reckon I’ll just list it on the Urban recycle thread with the caveat that it may need reupholstering or professional cleaning - although I will try souljacker’s advice first, cheers souljacker
Brown paper on the wax then go over it a few times with an iron

Did wonder it a micro fibre cloth might be better as the chair seems to be highly textured but use a cotton one not a synthetic one.

Can’t you just draw a pentagram around it and cast it into a dark dimension?

Or call the British Heart Foundation furniture collection service.

If it won't "pick out" with tools, then absorbent paper {kitchen roll} / cloth and hot iron should shift most of it.
{or drive it downwards / spread it out in the fibres}
If that don't work / disguise it then reupholster / loose cover ?

Looks very comfortable !

Wax is water proof. You'd have to use wax coloured paint or gloss.

FFS man, which part of bimble is an expert didn't you understand? Your 'science' means nothing. And I bet you used wikipedia.

We do not mention the sofa  . I've been more cautious since then about telling you people about all my other brilliant DIY projects.

Methinks you do protest too much and secretly do want to tell us about other disasters diy projects.
