Moronic England fan given 10 years for pushing Polish builder onto tube tracks

OK well forget the rape thing - hopefully he will join the list of BNP types that have committed suicide whist imprisoned then. Like the twat who was banged up for the bacon butty on the mosque doorway.
Remember kids: only good nazi is a dead one!
Forget the rape thing? I'm sure many victims of rape (men and women) wish they could, in such a dismissive way.

Have a think about why so many have objected to your posts. Would you advocate a woman is raped because you don't like something she's done? I hope not.

Personally I think you should apologise to the thread for your attitude but I'm not holding my breath.

"Mr Pietraskzek says he landed on the rail, felt electricity coming through his body - he could hear a train approaching.
"He had the presence of mind to get back on the platform as quickly as possible."

He had the presence of mind to do the wrong thing.

1. He should have just stayed in the pit where the train can't hit him. He doesn't know how fast the train is coming in towards him.
2. He should wait until the traction current is turned off and Station staff get him out. He put his hand on the negative power rail to lift himself out. How he didn't electrocute himself amazes me.

He should have watched The Odessa File. That involved Nazi scum pushing someone onto an underground rail track.

Not apologising for a throwaway joke, don't really think even victims of an actual rape attack would be that bothered by a soap drop in prison joke. Over-sensitivity and demands to censor = pet hates for me
Especially given nobody is objecting to the follow up compromise of hoping he gets brutally murdered, like nazis should.

People making jokes about rape are pet hates for me. Ask a victim of rape whether they're being over sensitive if they take issue with this brand of humour.

As for murder? Nobody has the right to take another life.

I've seen you get offended, I've seen where your limits are.

You assume way more than you will ever know. That much I do remember.
I've been round the world twice in the six years since I was here.
Seen a good bit of the planet, far less stressed or frustrated than I was when stuck in London on nightshifts.
Still, I'm sure you've read some good books.

I have, and I too have travelled somewhat in your absence.

I think you'd be wrong.

Society seems to have come to a place where the rape of women is viewed by most as a crime, and no joke. The rape of men is not a joke either. There is much research available showing the high incidence of PTSD in female sex assault survivors. While the number of men subjected to rape/sexual assault is much lower - maybe 10% of the female stats - the indicators are that PTSD is even more prevalent amongst male rape/sex assault survivors.

Ten years ago or more, your 'rape the prisoner' joke would have probably gotten some agreement and maybe some chortles from some posters. The world has changed; the boards have changed. Most people realize that rape of males or females, is not funny.

I love travel, too. I don't get to do it as much as I'd like [not enough money, etc.], but when I do, I return feeling refreshed, and enriched by the experience.

But it reminds me of that saying: 'Wherever you go, there you are.'

OK well - maybe my old-fashioned humour is a bit too Frankie Boyle or Ricky Gervais for modern life.
I'm not trying to troll any victims of such a thing. Not deliberately trying to wind people up either.
Dunno, still get the impression people are trying to get offended.

There's a difference between being offended and thinking someone's a cunt for saying a thing. I'm not sitting here in emotional agony over it, but I do think you're an unfunny cunt, so there y'go.

I wasn't going to participate in the discussion till I saw the comment about how rape survivors would view this sort of joking. It took me back to this seminar I attended a couple of weeks ago where stats on rape and PTSD were presented. When you see it in black and white like that, it's really quite stunning.

I'm not a fan of kneejerk PC offence and automatic response; but the fact that some people might go a bit far in leaping upon every slight real and imagined in society, doesn't change the fact that there are real issues of fairness and proper treatment of others, that need addressing.

We as a society can get along fine without rape jokes. Good on the people who come forward and call it out for what it is.

I pray that the good people of Urban75 will cure me of this terrible affliction.

Ah, the excuses have arrived -'it was just a joke', 'you're oversensitive ', 'you're looking for offence '.

You caused great offence, and you knew it when you made the post. I don't find rape jokes funny, I find them offensive. That's not being oversensitive at all.

I also don't find racist jokes funny. Is that being oversensitive too?
