Milo Yiannoupoulis banned!

What is it you want to say Cheesypoof ?

what i want to say? Thank you for the opportunity, by the way :). As a woman, and former journalist (I did it for 14 years in London and had a career, now i am a press officer), like many journalists, I was originally drawn to do it because I truly and unequiviocally, believe in free speech and the freedom for any of our colleagues around the world to do that, freely, acerbically, caustically, and kindly - whatever they fancy without mercy. That is journalism.

If Milo wants to speak out on any subject, I tend to support his right. Like for example, early sexual awakening (which I experienced myself when i was 14 and there was nothing whatsoever paedophilic in his views once he clarified them, im glad people understood). You know there is an Urban rock and roll thread where i go into detail on my views of early sexualisation, by the way, Urbans keep up! I dont agree with everything Milo says but essentially he is expressing himself very much in the spirit of what Oscar Wilde talked about what - 125 years ago. True freedom of journalism being important. Nothing Milo says, offends me, or any woman i know, by the way (they all love him!)

If Milo were to quip Oscar Wildes words today, I wonder what people would say ' All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his.'

So do I; but freedom of speech does not carry with it the obligation for the listener to love, or even like, what is being said, nor to love or even like the speaker. In fact, it's possible to hate the speaker, and hate what they say - and still believe in free speech, and the right of the hated speaker to express their opinion.

Free speech is a two-way street. Milo may be free to speak his mind; but those who disagree with him, even those who hate him, are equally within their rights to respond - as you say - freely, acerbically, caustically, - whatever they fancy. [and that extends even to those of us who aren't journalists].

If some U75ers find Milo hateful, or hate what he says, they are free to say so as they choose, and it's a bit surprising to see you as a journalist attempting to shame them because they've spoken their minds on this subject.

They are free to say what they want -there tends to be a very one-sided, po-faced collective opinion on Urban about characters like him: very suspicious, easily offended, gunning for his (metaphorical) blood , baffled by satire- which is all oh so very very predictable.

i'm not sure 14 is a particularly early sexual awakening tbh. certainly not early enough to be unusual, and from chatting to people when i was younger most people had 'sexual awakenings' if not sex around 12 onwards.

"As a woman .." I think you are talking out of your arse, a pretentious self aggrandising torrent of nonsense.
Great that all the women you know love him though, they must be so sophisticated. Is it his journalistic work at breitbart that they find thrilling ?

At least Katie Hopkins hasn't embarked on a US wide lecture tour with the intention of publicly naming hundreds of undocumented people - names farmed and provided to him by far-right racist and openly fascist groups - in order that they and their families are arrested, detained and then deported - ruining their lives in the process. Unlike Cheesy's cheeky little mischief maker.
