Milk's impact on the planet dairy, soya, rice, oat and almond compared

What collective action have you engaged with?

And your first para seems to just totally ignore what I said.
Why does it need 'collective action' from me? I haven't eaten meat for many decades and - along with millions of others - I'm slowly trying to guide myself into a vegan diet.

So what changes and 'collective action' have you made in your diet? Have you massively reduced your meat intake in line with recent environmental reports?

Not sure about you, but I hugely welcome the massive rise in people eating vegan and veggie diets. It's only the start but it's extremely encouraging and it seems to have built up an unstoppable momentum. It wasn't that long ago that vegans were seen as weird hippies on the fringes of society (well, they still are by some twats) so I'm very encouraged.

It's extraordinary, having spent thirty years being offered cheese fucking salads if I'm fucking lucky, the last three years have been insania for veggie choice, the last 12 months even!!

In fact, what time is it? There'll be more veggie options along any second!:D

(Still not perfect, but it's has really moved).

Where have I set myself up as the standard to be followed? Oh yeah, I haven't.

The change has been truly massive recently and a lot of it has come about by consumer demand backed by campaigning groups. Even the shittiest restaurant is slowly realising that if they don't offer vegan choices, they'll lose customers forever.

So why did you post it? What relevance does an animal's behaviour in the wild have to the cruelty inflicted by humans? What point were you hoping to prove?

The point is that we are animals.
That at some stage we may need to eat meat again in order to survive.

And at what point might that be given the immense rise of plant-based alternatives that give us 'animals' all the nutrients we need.

It's not about vegans though is it?
Why bring them into it at all?
It's about saving the planet...apparently. Not everybody becoming vegan.

Not everyone can be vegan..Even if they wanted to. Do you see that? So why demonize those who may not be able to be vegan?

Certain enzymes and supplements are needed. You know this. Surely you take them?
And all of us in first world countries may well be able to afford supplements etc but third world civilisations won't. They may well need to have meat.

Who's demonised anyone? The poster you're responding to is not even a vegan.

Ok. Sorry editor for thinking you might be vegan or vegetarian.

maomao my point still stands that certain enzymes are needed and many vegans take supplements to their diet in the first world to make sure their diet is fully healthy.

The idea of people turning fully to veganism is one that may well only work in first world countries because we are the only people who can afford to be vegans / vegetarians.

They must have learned it from those 500 million filthy rich Indian vegetarians.

If you're referring to me...I'm not attacking anyone.
And if you've read my previous posts you'll see that I have a very limited diet due to muscular disease.... And that I actually do need to eat meat.
Not everyone can be vegan.

Where exactly did I "demonize" anyone in the post I quoted?

You do NOT need to eat animals to have a full and healthy diet. Period.

you know this for a fact??

Vitamin B12 is only found in animal foods and certain types of seaweed. Vegans can get vitamin B12 by taking supplements, eating enriched foods or eating nori seaweed.

Creatine is a bioactive compound that is lacking in vegetarian diets. It plays an important role in brain and muscle function. Because creatine is not found in any plant foods, vegetarians and vegans can only get it from supplements.

Carnosine is an antioxidant that is concentrated in the muscles and brain (33, 34).
It is very important for muscle function, and high levels of carnosine in muscles are linked with reduced muscle fatigue and improved performance (35, 36, 37, 38).Carnosine is a nutrient only found in animal foods. It is important for muscle function.

7 Nutrients That You Can't Get From Plant Foods

There are vegan supplements which rely on rare ingredients. These are not readily available..

My point is that eliminating meat as a food source is not a good idea.
Have it as a choice. Cut back on meat production and consumption but do not do away with it. It is an excellent source of nutrition.

Balance in all things.

You do NOT need to eat animals to have a full and healthy diet. Period.
There are many things in this world that we do not NEED, but we might LIKE and WANT them. I LIKE bacon sarnies for my breakfast. I can't see that changing any time soon.

If your diet is very limited then you may need to eat meat. That's all I am saying.
One group cannot say that nobody should eat meat because there are people who cannot survive on a plant based diet.

I get B12 from yeast extract
So you're wrong there
next claim?

Jolly good. Any thoughts on the multiple scientific studies that recommend that meat intake should be massively reduced for the sake of the planet?
