No lets bother but do it in the already existing solidarity organisation which is HOV . Setting up another solidarity organisation like the cwi one or VICUK is just pure secterianism. Why cant you fight your corner in HOV? Is it something to do with it being run by the Woods group who advocate working in the LP which the SP so vehemently disagree with? Do you recall that word unity? Whats wrong with marching seperately but striking together?
This is what really fucks me off with the left in the UK and why the capitalist class take the piss out of us!!

We are also asking for financial support for the strike fund of the Suprofard trade union. Two members of the executive committee of the trade union have been made redundant by RACE. Jhonny Coronil has been without any income for the last 6 months and Andry Key has been without income for the last year. They were sacked illegaly and we are demanding the immediate reintegration into the company.

We are aware that the situation which has developed in the RACE company is not unique in Venezuela. A lot of other workers are going through the same experience, for example the workers in the textile factory Sel-Fex. This is a call for unity. The workers have to unite all similar struggles just as the bosses and management are uniting in Venezuela to drive down the conditions and wages of the working class. With unity, organisation and awareness we will succeed.

As I live outside of london the chances of me coming across an HOV meeting is very unlikely. If they are around at Unison national conference I will raise this with them.

Are we having this new Labour Party or the old one? Campaign for a New Labour Party seems to have it's SPers in the right place, not like the old one throwing them away.

At least they won't want to sell our hospitals off .

I very much doubt if the Woods grouplet will be supporting anything that is even implicitly critical of Chavez or his government. Somewhere along the line they seem to have confused "solidarity" with "hysterical cheerleading". They will probably take the view that support for the independent struggles of Venezuelan workers is sectarian.
