King Charles III's time is up

But, no. You're forgetting the Regency Act of 1937. It would be Andrew.

In the event that the sovereign is under 18, or is incapacitated, the first person in the line of succession who is over the age of 21 (or 18 in the case of the heir apparent) and is domiciled in the United Kingdom becomes regent, and exercises the powers of the sovereign.
Wouldn't Anne be up before Randy in that case?

We can rest assured he'll receive the very best care our money can buy, gawd bless him.
Yeah, I expect that like most wealthy men in their 70s with cancer he'll get good treatment, soldier on into his 80s or 90s and it'll get him eventually. It'd better not be advanced though or the Royal Mint and Royal Mail will have wasted a lot of time and effort.

No - I'd forgotten about the residency thing, though it's not like Harry couldn't move back to prevent Andy being regent - but the change to the rules making women equal with men doesn't apply retrospectively, so Anne comes after Andy and his kids and Edward and his kids (and obviously Willy's other kids and Harry and his kids).

TBF, I suspect scifisam really isn't forgetting the Regency Act of 1937. :D

Andrew isn't the first person in the line of succession. That would be William.

Oh God the newspaper headlines are going to nauseating tomorrow.

They will literally be up the King's arse.

Current tabloid headlines seem to be along the lines of "Harry Rushes Back to Britain After Charles Cancer Diagnosis," maybe by tomorrow they'll be "Meghan Markle Breaks Her Silence on Charles Cancer Diagnosis"

Yes - the discussion was about if William also died. Be a bit hard for him to be a regent for his young son then. Less Queen Mum than King Zom.

And you dont think that Harry would be on next plane home if he was likely to become king. It will not be Andrew.

From Wikipedia:

"As of 2024, the first person under the age of 18 in the line of succession to the throne is William's eldest child (and elder son) Prince George of Wales, who is second in line to the throne after his father. If the prince were to succeed to the throne before his 18th birthday on 22 July 2031, his uncle, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex (the King's younger son), would serve as regent (if domiciled in the United Kingdom, as required by the 1937 Act), as George's younger siblings Charlotte and Louis (currently third and fourth in line, respectively) would also be minors. In the event that Prince Harry would be unable to serve as regent (a possibility since his 2019 decision to take up residence in the United States), the next in line would be the King's brother (Prince George's grand-uncle) Prince Andrew, Duke of York, followed by the Duke of York's elder daughter Princess Beatrice."

I'd almost like to see that happen, but if it did there would be a fuckstorm the likes of which we've never seen.
