Ken Loache's film, I Daniel Blake, (Film about uk benefit regime) wins Palme d'Or.

It isn't as far as I can see and you aren't criticising Ken either so that is a odd link for you to make in justification of not really having anything better to do than make stuff up and then prove yourself wrong.

I wasn't justifying anything, was offering up a defence in response to your aggression

The interview I saw he wasn't talking like that
Made me look him up, found this vid of him twenty years back performing in Aus where you'd think he'd tone his accent down a bit due to unfamiliarity and you can still hear the geordie a fair bit:

Is that right - shall we have a look at it then?

No, because I saw it months ago when it was first released so wouldn't be able to find it. Okay, Dave Johns talks with a regional dialect, he still can't act though. It was like he was doing a caricatured impression of someone's grandad. That scene when he chases the young girl out of the brothel was naff.

Why can't you find things from months ago? I would have thought you'd have been quite keen to support what seems to be an extraordinary claim on your part.

Is it wrong of me to want my Geordie's to sound like the cast of Geordie Shore?
Well, if you're expecting everything to be stereotypical, you're going to be disappointed. I thought it was shocking that he didn't have one single fight in that film because someone looked at his pint funny, and at no point did he neck a bottle of Broon. It's a disgrace.

Almost as if you want me to defend myself even when I'm wrong and admitted so. I would have cast Jeff from Byker Grove as the main character, but that's just me.

You've got nothing better to do than make stuff up and prove yourself wrong. Not exactly polite conversation is it.

I'm not the only one having a slow day, could have cleared this up immediately. Instead you've nudged it around like a cat toying with it's prey. Bravo chaps.

Well the first thought is make the cunts watch it and reply to its messages. A very authentic film. How many are in these circumstances?

Its really a good film.

All I know is I've signed on for JSA and it was as bad as this film portrays. Bollocks courses, jump through demeaning hoops The whole system is designed to be cruel and demeaning, Daniel Blake says: 'If I lose my self respect I've got nothing'.

Now available on DVD. Will be getting it on the weekend. We've delayed watching this for far too long

We've just watched it now. We were both completely taken aback by the ending, not because it wasn't realistic, but because neither of us had expected it .....

But we were both hugely impressed. Well worth the wait.

Deb's got a lot of experience of benefit advice work, appeals against DWP decisions, etc., most of it rang really true she thought.

OK, one exception, the enormous queue outside the foodbank was a tad exaggerated she thought -- but maybe things really are that much more extreme in the NE than in far from prosperous Neath/Port Talbot?
