Keir Starmer's time is up

Anyone taking a honour is going along with the same establishment that covered up for Jimmy Savile, Prince Andrew all the other crimes that those in authority looked the other way and allowed to happen

Very busy people

This is what he told his constituents in 2021

The New Journal asked Mr Starmer what should happen now. “Water should be run in the best interests of the environment and consumers – not shareholders,” a spokesperson for the Holborn and St Pancras MP and party leader said. “Labour believe that common ownership can deliver that.”

Polls consistently show nationalisation of water is popular.

The "grown ups" in charge of political system now don't.

The investment & asset management corporations and financiers have obviously told them not to do it or there'll be a credit/capital strike and, more importantly, there'll be no directorships in 5/10 years time.

"A “secondary palette” has been composed to match messaging relating to Labour’s “missions”. They are “growth pink”, “green energy green”, “NHS blue”, “policing yellow” and “opportunity purple”."

Even the most free market lunatics I know think that water privatisation has failed. They argue over the best way to take back control of it (eg some think it’s best to squeeze the private companies through debt until they fail, and that much tighter regulations can then be written), but they don’t doubt that governmental control needs to be reasserted. Water should be an easy win for Labour right now.

Once there's one successful nationalisation, and the bar for 'successful' here would be pretty fucking low considering the state the sector has got itself in, that could open the floodgates for many more. Which would be a disaster for the asset managers, hence why they'll never allow it.

Watching politicians, particularly the very dim ones like the person in that Sky clip, try and explain this without letting slip the actual reason, it would be funny if it wasn't a symptom of just how badly we've all been fucked by vulture capitalists.

Saw an electronic billboard thing for who I understand to be the Labour mayoral candidate in midlands. Big Union Jack, picture of the bloke, not much mention of Labour

I honestly thought you'd made that up as a joke but, fuck me ... they're actually using those ridiculous terms!!!

 :(

I clicked on the video linked in that article. Angela Rayner at the beginning, introducing Keir Starmer.

He comes on with his shirt sleeves rolled up. Like wtf, as if he's been doing any hard work. Fuck off.

And then a few minutes later he trots out the obligatory 'my dad was a toolmaker, worked in a factory' and 'my sister is a careworker'.

Not sure how long the video is, but it's long, so I haven't watched it all yet, not sure I can be bothered, tbh.

All this my family are working class I love the smell of horseshit at football comes over as so painfully manufactured that it’s no wonder it’s just seen as a joke . It doesn’t even come over as a lesson in aspiration or adversity either .
Whilst I’d genuinely like a working class left wing leader who has got his hands dirty most people I know would like someone who has some policies that practically and demonstratively benefit the w/class (and the majority of people) , someone who is able to communicate naturally and effectively , and with either competence or character/like-ability. Starmer just hasn’t got it has he ?

It's of a kind with reeves visiting a shoe factory here in kettering where her grandfolks worked.

I've only read the abstract but this is on class composition of current parties.

Every time I see Reeves I think Vic. VR would be a far superior shadow chancellor than the current incumbent
