July 2005 London bomb blasts: UPDATES AND NEWS ONLY - NO DISCUSSION

I'm worried about my friend, who's been staying at my flat for a while... Last I heard from her she was on a crowded bus on her way to work... I texted her back telling her to go home and I haven't heard from her yet. Can't get through to her on the phone because the network is fucked! :(

I'm really worried!

Latest from beeb:

Bus was Tavistock square outside BMA (not sure where the other two are)

Tube station they're showing on beeb is aldgate.

Explosions in Edgware Road, Kings cross, liverpool st, Aldgate east and one I missed I think

It is being said that the underground one was an electrical surge and some eyewitnesses seem to confirm this.

!
Many of the major mobile networks have gone down due to demand in the areas affected.

This is fucked up man.

just sitting here watching all the reports come in.

All i can do is hope that not too many people are dead. And that's a fucked up thought in itself.

Things really aren't helped by you - or anyone else - posting up wildly dramatic speculation.
Speaking of which Matthew Bannister on R5 just suggested that this might be the work of G8 protesters....

I'm surprise the phone network hasn't crashed completely yet.
It virtually has. I can't get texts through.

The bus bomb went off at 9.45

Anyone finding a reliable news service? I don't want to read and then re-iterate wild and unproven speculation that would cause offence here

BBC news 24 on channel 1 is on.

Jon Gaunt show: eyewitness reports she saw the bus explode in front of her and describes seeing bodies and a scene of "carnage".

Fuck. Feel a million miles away here. Also trying to get through to friends. Just hope everyone is OK. I'm trying to remain calm rather assuming the worst but it really really doesn't look good. And I'm already thinking about the implications to everyone in terms of national security/ID cards etc etc IF this is as bad as it appears it could be.

My thoughts are with everyone up there. :(

Really bad new :(

I woke late and was totally unaware of this until I blithered onto Euston station. Looks like there is little doubt that it was a terrorist attack. I guess we are not sure of the scale so far............

Really hope this is not another Madrid

Tube problems and Bus explosion were seperate incidents apparently. Former at about 8.45am, latter at about 9.45am. (according to an eye witness on BBC News24)
