July 2005 London bomb blasts: UPDATES AND NEWS ONLY - NO DISCUSSION

The Police Commissioner has just said 50 plus dead with more expected because of bodies still being recovered from one of the tube trains. He said it won't hit three figures though.

any suspect package will be taken very seriously now

right after 9-11 I saw an unattended bag on a LUL platform and called over a member of staff and told him. He said "that's mine" and walked off again - leaving his bag unattended. If that's the attitude of the staff then I'm not holding out great hope that attitudes to this sort of thing will change.

Quite a few years ago, I reported an unattended bag at Charing X. The station attendant picked it up, put his ear to it and shook it. He said, 'nah, it's not a bomb' and walked off with it. Tool.

He wouldn't do that now!! Or if he did, call it Tool x 1000 .....

I'm based on Walbrook between Bank & Cannon St, just got an internal email saying police have cordoned off the St.Pauls end of Cannon St as there is a suspect package on a bus. We've been told to stay inside the building until further notice.

I don't know where else to stick this but thought I should forward it

The idea is that you store the word "ICE" in your mobile phone address
book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be
contacted "In Case of Emergency". In an emergency situation ambulance
and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next
of kin are and be able to contact them.

It's so simple - everyone can do it. Please do. Please will you also
forward this to everybody in your address book, it won't take too many
forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save
your life.

Just thought i'd ask reading the met police briefing this morning Sir Ian Blair was saying it was 'blindingly obvious' that a terrorist cell was operating in Britain.
If he is saying that does that mean more attacks in London? And more importantly would the terrorists choose different targets, i.e. around the Oxford Street area etc

Just looked out my office window and St Paul's all seems clear now.

There's gonna be a lot of this sort of thing happening for a while i can imagine.

This is a long thread and not sure how much this factor has been discussed if at all but certainly suprised me today.

I saw on the BBC that a suicide bomber had been shot by police in Docklands yesterday morning but reasonably quickly this was denied and I have not seen any more mention of this since.

Came into the office and spoke to a business associate who is based in Canary Wharf and she (+ 5 collegues) saw the police snipers shoot a man in the street. Now she is not somebody that is full of shit, I have know her for some time now and trust her 100%.

if they really saw that then i am sure the news media would be interested to hear it.
i work in canary wharf and have heard nothing from people here. can you ask your friend the location of this shooting, and where they were watching from?
