July 2005 London bomb blasts: UPDATES AND NEWS ONLY - NO DISCUSSION

I hope that it's all false allarms.

I suppose we'll be getting lots of them up and down the country. Then, folk may just learn that they should read the signs which say "keep all personal belongings with you at all times"

I imagine they are... security are understandably on edge. It's not AQ's tactic to return and do the same surprise atrocity again - they know London is crawling with police, guards and very alert commuters.

Security alerts

The Euston one, from what little we know anyway, seems almost certain to have been a false alarm -- it reopened so quickly. Let's hope the Liverpool Street one was as well -- people being extra vigilant at the moment is a good thing ...

The District Line from Westminster to South Kensington this morning was eerily normal (though somewhat less crowded than usual!) and so was the 148 from Walworth Road to Westminster.

Suspect Package in Liverpool Street Station- Talksport reporter has been told, and sniffer dogs inside the actual station, Reporter reckons Liverpool Street could be shutdown for sometime

I travelled on Met, Jubilee and District line this morning. My journey was a lot quicker and quieter than usual but in all everything seemed back to normal. I must admit, when I was going through the tunnels, I was a bit scared and kept thinking about what it must have been like for those poor people yesterday.

But life goes on as they say...

BBC says 37, but Sun website says 55 killed in total

But they also say:

7 in Aldgate St.
41 in King’s Cross
7 in Edgware Road
20 in Tavistock Square

= 75 total

Some strange inconsistencies here (NOT implying a conspiracy).

The shooting at Canary Wharf

I saw Lisatocket had reported this at somepoint yesterday, I got a phone call myself at about lunchtime yesterday saying that a friend had heard a man had been shot at Canary Wharf, obviously its still very sketchy to whether his happened, but I thought it might be worth mentioning that it's been reported in the South London Press.

Isn't that because the BBC only wants to report confirmed deaths rather than estimated?

But they had *two* on the website until atleast mid afternoon yesterday  when it was obvious many more had died :(

I can understand not wanting to accept estimates, but even so, they haven't covered themselves in glory here :(

But the time for that discussion will come later.....

Can't find that in the South London Press online -- but I might be looking in the wrong place.

There was an almightly bang at Camden Road silverlink station this morning where the overhead power conductors crashed onto the top of the train. I wasn't there but heard people were screaming & running as they were thinking the worst...

I avoided that line thinking it would be swamped. Instead caught the Barking to Gospel Oak line which was quite quiet & walked from Gospel Oak. Only took an extra half hour too.

Written in the actual paper, page 4. And sorry, I think I might have skimmed it first time reading, its not confirmed as definately having happened, but its being reported that the police are looking into it.

Police were yesterday probing reports of a man had been "neutralised" outside Canary Wharf.
Is (sic) is believed the man was shot dead by police marksmen outside the Credit Suisse First Boston bank.
Other unconfirmed reports suggested the attacks wre the work of a co-ordinated team of suicide bombers.
So, its not definate it happened, but due to that its possibly sounding more feasible than some of the other urban myths flying around at the moment.

Wiskey, just read your post. It was very moving and I feel for you mate.

You deserve a good rest and little break from the stories and pictures for now.

Take care x

Likewise Wiskers. Hope you manage to get your head down for a while. Respect to you & your other fellow co-workers. Think you all did a tremendous job!

Also to Badger Kitten, sorry to hear of your awful ordeal. Glad you're OK now despite your arm. You take care now...

Kewl. Well if you happen to meet anyone from Fox News, tell 'em exactly when you got it, just so they know London (never mind the rest of Britain) was not actually shut down yesterday...
