Of course both of them are on the right, you say it as if it will come to a surprise to anyone on the boards.
Where I take issue is when you say that all politicians are the same so voting is pointless, and that it makes no real difference whether the right-wing democrats or the far-right republicans get into power. It will make a huge difference if Trump or his mates take power.
And it's not at all what the bloke in the video you linked to is saying.
One can be said to be more extreme than the other but both are still extreme and also extremely shit for the working class. Both of them manage the same capitalist system at our expense. And I don't actually think the likes of the Democrats truly help oppressed groups and at the end of the day their neoliberalism and representative democracy aids the far right. What is needed is a genuine alternative to both.

For the most part I don't think people here would disagree with this. Where you and I differ is that I'm pragmatic enough to be willing to annoy my Congress critters to get them to stick a crowbar in the government wallet to provide resources that poor and working-class people need to survive. The key to getting those resources is being persistent enough to annoy the shit out of them. (IMHO, annoying the shit out of them is a worthwhile goal in itself. If nothing else, its cheap entertainment.) Then, if you know how to work a federal program, you can match $1000 of donations with federal and state money to end up with several multiples of that $1000. And they do make a difference. I can give you numbers on how many extra deaths happen during Republican administrations, than in Democratic administrations. You may say that that doesn't make a difference, but it certainly makes a difference to those people. Even if you and I cease to vote ever again, I don't see these politicians going away any time soon.

Well if people want to put on pressure on those in power to get things like reforms etc I'm all for it, and autonomous alternatives from below are the best way of doing that. But when people are too dependent on politicians it becomes a big problem.

Autonomous Alternatives from Below is a great slogan but that's all it is. What alternatives would you propose and feel free to be as radical as you want. This is Urban after all where political and social philosophies come to die so you can't possibly do any harm.
Personally I think democratic elections are a pretty good idea. Certainly there is a great deal we can do (but sadly aren't) to make them fairer and more representative and I most definitely want to see a much broader range of policies and candidates than the current sorry bunch offer. But the fundamental idea that our political leadership has to go back to the general populace at regular intervals, explain their policies and seek a mandate strikes me as a good one. It's certainly better than all the alternatives we've tried so far.
