Back to the game, Italy have no-one to blame but themselves , they set out for a draw and it backfired, not just in this gut against Costa Rica too. Despite all of his class and passing prowess, Pirlo is a luxury player, he never tackles and the Italians need to compensate for this by playing a 5 man midfield either at the expense of a striker or in yesterday's case a defender. Pirlo was negated in this game and there was no plan b. Uruguay themselves offered little but it was always a case of them biding their time before pinching a goal. Italy blew their chance of qualifying against Costa Rica and were over confident that they would get the draw they needed to progress yesterday, this turned out to bite them in the arse in more ways than one.

Yeah Chiellini reacted to the bite and got him with is elbow - Suarez saw the opportunity and dived, presumably hoping the ref had seen Chiellini's retaliation and not the original bite. He really is a piece of shit. The dive annoyed me more than the bite.
