Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

I think she was the one who cut ties with him - she filed for a name change as soon as she turned 18

“I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” she said in a petition for both a name change and a new birth certificate.

I have found myself wondering a bit this week whether I should get round to signing up to Bluesky, but I think the important thing is that I still need to be less rather than more online, and I don't think that using Bluesky will help with that.
Same. I still have an invite from when it was still in beta or something, never used it but I might simply register now just to bump up the user count and contribute a tiny bit towards making that weirdo have an aneurysm. Never had a Twitter account so I can't flounce off of that.

Yeah, why don't these stupid lefties understand that return to shareholders is important and much more of a moral imperative than people getting lifesaving care or medication?

This view he espouses is also a very recent development in corporate management attitudes. If you go back as recently as the 1970s, you’d find CEOs of Dow Jones companies writing management textbooks that balanced the needs of employees and communities with shareholders as a roughly equal tripartite relationship. Not that Musk is going to know that, since he views subjects like history as pointless.

That tweet isn't real is it?

I've just been back through 8 days of his tweets (don't worry, I just scanned, nothing went in) and I couldn't see anything.

He wouldn't say "however ruthless". They're all convinced they're the good guys.

Oh it's so wonderful. It's actually a bit beautiful.

Anyone who thinks social media doesn't need moderation and moderation teams is fucking stupid. it has nothing at all to do with free speach. if one platform is too heavy handed for your shit, well then fuck off to telegram or something or create your own site. these are private companies making private choices. it's like if i graffitied "you bunch of cunts" on the my office wall, i am sure someone would tell me to clean it off.

i am out of hte loop. is he being heralded in sections of the right, too? that's fascinating. I can actually see it tbh.
yes thats why on the main thread I mentioned propaganda of the deed, the Adjustor has drawn near universal acclaim except from journos, politicos and the very rich so it seems
I had a look at a couple of right wing US political subreddits out of interest and there's been a few badly judged threads along the lines of "EVIL leftists celebrating the death of health insurance CEO". Almost all the replies they've got have been people saying nah, fuck him.

Good opportunity to find common ground if people are up for crossing tribal divides. A lot of the ‘right’ share some common ideals with traditional left - see for example how UKIP supporters were once polled on railway renationalisation and were broadly in favour. The private healthcare industry in the US is indefensible.

people probably aren't as dvided as we assume. the tech and the media requires it of us though.

an example i use is say you had to build a commune and the people selected would be 50/50 right-left share, I still think that community could end up something sucessful, civil, dynamic. people would have disagreements but people would also thrash it out, face to face, comprimise.

now go on to X:

You're probably right, but says something that it also could plausibly be real as well!
