Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

The Bob in the clip is Bob Iger Disney CEO, who was in the room. Now telling the CEO of Disney to fuck off isn't a great idea in itself, but I expect Bob is going to tell all his CEO mates not to do any business with Musk; large contractors who want to do business with Disney are going to have second thoughts about dealing with Musk.

But what do I know; I'm not the person who knows more about manufacturing of anyone currently alive on Earth. so it must be a 5d chess with Portal Gun move.

That's not how statistics work. More sample points = greater certainty. 226 in a row without fault > 13 in a row. And that's if you count Apollo 6 as 100% success, which it wasn't.

I didn't want to get into a statistics argument anyway. The point is that SpaceX is doing extraordinary work and "haha starship went boom" a) misunderstands their methods and b) is a really weak dunk on Musk. He expects them to go boom, has watched plenty before go boom and will see many more.

Far easier to rip on his racism, antisemetism, anti-unionism and bullying, which are a) objectively worse and b) directly his fault
As I understand it, one of the reasons the SpaceX rockets are so successful is they don't let Musk go anywhere near the engineering.

When he does get his hands dirty, you end up with a social media platform which doesn't work and a car where you have to scroll through a bunch of drop down menus on a touchscreen to find the windscreen wipers.

Great piss take and general deep dive from the excellent Qanon Annonymous

link notes: Qannon Annonymous is four jouranlists who monitor the Qanon/Conspiracy/Alt right world, and is in general one of the best, highly entertaining, "leftist" podcasts imo. Some of the episodes are literally mind warping. They go under cover a lot and they get excellent audio clips, guests, etc.

Twitter advertising is terrible. Last two weeks all i get is endless ads for horse riding related t-shirts! How they've got me down to be the target audience for this I can't imagine

I would've loved it if Musk told Disney Sorry. Cant. Horses. Bye.

Is anyone getting ads for something that isn't tat?
I block all adverts as soon as I encounter them. In fact it’s probably the only reason I still bother scrolling. What a cunning plan, Muskrat!

So it's the unions creating the "lords and peasants sort of thing" is it? Nice bit of gaslighting there musk

Always love the "there shouldn't be an adversarial relationship" line.

Because, y'know, there's quite a simple solution for that. And it ain't stopping your workers from talking to each other and acting collectively.

The strain seems to be getting to him. He really doesn't look well.

Message to advertisers: "go fuck yourselves"

That for me has got circa 2002 energy with me sitting at 10am with a mate starting to come down after having not pulled again for the 100th time. That mix of class As and self hatred and ego defence.

Well at least Tesla's doing well :).

Oh dear

Tesla Motors' brand reputation dipped over the last year as CEO Elon Musk made headlines for a range of controversies, new Axios Harris Poll 100 survey results show.

Why it matters: The world's leading electric vehicle (EV) company is defined by its billionaire CEO, whose messy takeover of Twitter, along with his unfiltered online persona, may have caused collateral damage to other parts of his empire.

The big picture: Tesla ranked 62nd by reputation among the 100 most visible brands, tumbling from 12th last year and 8th in 2021.
...
Details: Tesla's image fell across all nine measured attributes, with the biggest declines in the categories of character, trust, culture and ethics.
  • Its reputation for growth also declined substantially — likely a reflection of the fact that consumers now have many more EVs from which to choose.
  • The results are in line with other surveys, such as one from Morning Consult, which found a ripple effect from Musk's polarizing online behavior on his other companies, Tesla and SpaceX.

Does anyone know if it’s been certified for European roads?
No. I believe there are a number of reasons, but one is that it doesn't have shock-absorbing bumpers.

The colour is stupid, but I suppose it could be painted any colour.

Looking at the shape of it, I'm not sure you would see objects close to the ground and close to you, e.g. if a cockapoo crossed your path.
