Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

Musk has an interesting variation on a one-year warranty if the truck fucks up.

Endorsing naked antisemitism now. Are there going to be any advertisers left on his platform.

the partly hidden tweet basically goes off on ‘the great replacement theory’ that Jews are undertaking to replace white people, as quoted in that synagogue shooter’s manifesto.

what concerns me somewhat is does this sort of info actually make its way to advertisers? everyone is so in their little bubble (including me) that we don't even really know whats happening in other little bubbles...

Not exactly the key take away. But I can't figure out the use of dialectical there.

Looks like he's going to drive away most of Twitter's remaining advertisers

IBM has pulled its advertising presence from X, formerly Twitter, as Elon Musk continues to endorse far-right talking points — agreeing with posts this week that promoted antisemitism and pushed support for white pride. The nonprofit Media Matters drew attention to those statements and noted that IBM, Apple, Comcast, and other companies all had ads placed next to pro-Nazi and pro-Hitler content (not posted by Musk) on X. IBM told the Financial Times and confirmed to The Verge that “IBM has zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination and we have immediately suspended all advertising on X while we investigate this entirely unacceptable situation.”

On the platform today, Musk called it “super messed up” that white people are not, in the words of one far-right poster’s tweet, “allowed to be proud of their race.

things must be bad if IBM is offended

Thing is I've never seen an advert for IBM. All I get is home shopping channel style gadgets... Which tbf every single one looks tempting to buy, so maybe they've done their research on me

Anyhow, what a cunt. Hopefully he'll have the effect of making young kids think his opinions are those of sad dads

And what are the other two reasons?
"2) Apple was a very big spender (one of top advertisers) and even more relevant was one of few companies that increased spend over the past year.

3) X/Twitter would often point to Apple's presence as evidence that the platform was brand safe. It's going to a lot harder for them to slow the advertiser losses without Apple's presence to point to.

What a lot of these free speech absolutest weirdos think is that everyone wants to hear what they want to say.
But it’s such an assumption. They often don’t, so they walk. Just like apple has.

Thing is with musk either is he will never back track or say sorry, even to save his company/money. He will meme himself into 4chan hyper reality. Quite the spectacle to watch. Sad though for the minorities that are the fodder as the culture wars roll on and on.

All the stuff in those ads can be bought from places like Temu/Ali Express, which is where the advertisers get it from before selling it on at a high mark-up. Never buy direct from these drop shipping type places in Twitter ads. Given the state of the neighbourhood a fair chance that most are straight up scams that’ll take your money and vanish.

I was seeing a lot of Apple ads when they launched the titanium phone thing, but that seems to have died down. Also see quite a few government-backed ads, have wondered if it’s worth demanding they stop funding the promotion of the far right, but likely this government gives no fucks about such things.

Not just IBM :)

A torrent of prominent brands halted their advertising on X on Friday, dealing a massive reputational blow to Elon Musk’s social media company after his public embrace this week of an antisemitic conspiracy theory favored by White supremacists.

The high-profile advertiser revolt includes some of the world’s largest media companies, such as Disney, Paramount, NBCUniversal, Comcast, Lionsgate and Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent of CNN.

X also reportedly lost Apple, according to multiple news outlets including Axios, which first reported Apple’s withdrawal. Apple did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Still I'm sure he can grab it back from charging the punters

I presume Media Matters have taken screenshots, and last few days have seen Musk liking explicitly antisemitic tweets so this will hopefully go as well as his explosive rocket launch

Sweden workers are having a 'General Telsa Strike' where workers who have anything do to with Telsa are either striking or refusing to assist Telsa.

Telsa is trying to drive down employment standards for workers in Sweden.

“Collective agreements form the backbone of the Swedish labor market model,” says Mikael Pettersson, head of negotiations at the electricians’ union, which plans to join the blockade tomorrow. “Fighting for the Swedish model becomes even more crucial when it involves such a large company as Tesla.” Negotiations are currently at a standstill. IF Metall spokesperson Jesper Pettersson told WIRED that there are no ongoing talks with Tesla as of Wednesday.

Tesla didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment.
