Judging from my experiences of cat behaviour, buying nice things for them is generally a waste of money. They would actually prefer a tatty old box from Tesco that's been sitting around the house for a while, rather than some fancy new thing that doesn't smell right.

I don't think that cardboard cat house has a lock on the bathroom door, so I'm not sure it would be ethical to let a cat live in there.
