Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

Any person stupid enough to fork out $8 per month for something of literally no value whatsoever must be a dream demographic for advertisers. Suggestible saps for sale.
It could get so toxic that he will have to pay people to have it.

worked in america even after trump lost office

fuck wits spending real money for something of less value than monopoly money

"Elon Musk says Twitter cash flow remains negative with 'heavy debt'" Elon Musk says Twitter cash flow is negative due to ad revenue declines, 'heavy debt'

There's some in there about how certain users (including Tate) are paid. Have they always paid certain users? Doing that I have always suspected fastracks extremist views. "How can I be as triggering as possible" etc to keep my ratios and retweets up.

That's the plan, encourage twatter blues to promote hate speech and far right ideology

I don't think they ever rewarded hate clicks directly before Muskman but the algorithm always pushed tweets that got "engagement" which did the same thing

Always thought that was one of Twitter's strengths, that there was no direct platform to user monitisation. Of course every vile quack and far righter used it to build a brand, but at least my former point was one port in a storm.

Because im like this I spent an hour yesterday looking at recent Russell brand diatribes. Overall impression is that moral cowardice is elevated into a virtue via ‘freedom of speech / just asking questions’ so he can platform people like tucker Carlson Andrew Tate etc and never say what he thinks of them, not risking offending the large chunk of his audience who he knows are big trump fans for instance. The one exception was his coming out fully in support of elon musk’s twitter being much better than the pre elon version, which makes sense, they share the same idea, controversy for clicks, but it works for brand, in his little cave on the internet, doesn’t actually work for twitter which had a much broader use base that’s obviously being destroyed.

He will always put a question mark at the end. Nearly always. Just asking questions. "Let's explore this", is another one. Yes, and always right wing questions. Always right wing topics to "explore". And he will keep asking these sorts of questions all the time he is making at least prob $100,000k a month.

Oh and don't forget one of his core precepts being that the main stream media is to blame for most of the worlds evils. Despite there's probably more value in 100 pages of say the observer (and not a lot of value in that) than a thousand of his toxic videos.

TBF he is not wrong to say that, I mean who else was it that created a system whereby the more someone is a dickhead the greater the chance they make money / advance politically?

I dont disagree, however it's the blanket demonization of that industry, where there is some value, some of the time, that bothers me. And then the dressing up of themselves as the enemies of "fake news". It's a belief now that is everywhere. So you have publications such as the New York Times or the Observer or BBC that are now deeply deeply distrusted and denegrated by these charlatans and lunatics. When yes the BBC observer etc they are all part of an overall corrupt ideology but at least they do hold some value here and there, well to me at least.

I mean I sound like I care too much but I don't, it's all just background cackle and is pretty minor. Tho When I have heard folk like brand speak about "destroying mainstream media" , an industry especially newspapers, that is on its arse, I do get to wondering though what a world would be like with people like him being the public's source of news and factual information. Using Twitter and the like as places to find out how the world looks. Shrugs shoulders. WhatsApp and urban for me only so I don't really care.

Seems to be not working properly for me atm, cannot see replies to tweets get this instead. Anyone else?

E2a seems to be working again

The media has always written what it thinks people want to hear and what its paymasters prefer to propagandise. But the number of outlets was less, pre-internet, which meant the occasional opportunity for reporters to slide through real journalism had considerably more impact, and outright green ink nonsense was outbid for column inches by better-crafted nonsense.

Right-wing grifters are apparently feeling aggrieved that their sucking up is going unrewarded:

So he's managed to spend lots of money to piss off the left/liberals/centrists (again) by monetarily supporting Andrew Tate and Tucker Carlson, and a chunk of his own supporters by snubbing them.

Now I feel like I'm posting on a strip club's forum. He must have a bet on, like in trading places or something.

Honest to God it's got such a chaotic divorced dad who has now discovered escourts but is also trying to turn his car dealership into a multi million pound adventure feel to it all.

Of course maybe he's right, maybe it all work out and Twitter will boom again, but it certainly feels like above.
