International Mens Day

I'm trying to work out why a woman has made this men's day thread all about them and how they've been allowed to get away with it?

stella hun, them not wanting to debate a trans woman with opinions is somewhat shown by the baiting. trying to shut down debate.

that's a debate that those of us who aren't cunts have learned a great deal from. not only in understanding the great complexities of human experience, but also in how society and we ourselves look at gender.

so don't let them succeed.

Do trans people not get to decide what transphobia is? Do we not know best what hurts us and what is designed to damage us?

It's interesting that you conflate what hurts you with transphobia. That's to expand the definition of transphobia beyond what it's widely understood to mean. That is why you wrongly label any critical thought about gender which doesn't necessarily accord with your own as transphobic, even when it's clearly not motivated by dislike, fear or prejudice of/towards trans people. I suspect that's a deliberate ploy to attempt to silence people by slurring them.

And, with regard to the second half of the final sentence: No, you are not best placed to judge what is designed to hurt you; the issue of 'design' goes entirely to the intentions of those whose actions you're judging, and it follows that they must be better equipped to know their own intentions than you are.

Did you not see that I am responding to a post? Someone picked this fight with me. I have no desire to have his conversation. It is also not all about me. It is about trans and I happen to be trans, can you not see the difference?
Yeah I've used that argument when I've been accused of distrupting threads. It didn't cut any mustard then and so i guess it doesn't now.

I'm happy for the men's day thread to discuss trans people (real men think nothing of challenging discussions about identity) and we're blessed to have one discussing it and it's sad she's being trolled I think because of our gender finding it hard to ask about stuff.

So is trans a third sex and do you feel as trans a bit man? AuntiStella

I think the jibes come from confusion more than cuntyness but I might be wrong

I've only had one mate who had a female persona for a year or two, but he was to me a trans person just jacked it in

Uh no. I've never heard the term "gender critical" used where it didn't mean denying the basic human rights of trans folk, so therefore transphobic. Criticising gender norms (i.e. pink and dolls for girls, blue and cars for boys) or society valuing men more than women is not the same thing.

If I stomp your foot, it will hurt, whether I did it by accident or intentionally. I don't accept that ignorance is an excuse for bigotry. Okay, make a mistake once and learn from it. Do it again and you don't get a free pass, nope.

Yeah thats similar to what he said, I think we're all pretty fluid I'm sure he still is that person in part because it's part of his identity now

I'm not talking about statements born of ignorance, but about those based on a differing conception of gender. It's quite possible for a woman to question what it means to be a woman for no other reason that the significance of that question to her own identity, rather than becasue she hates trans people. The fact that some trans women disagree with that doesn't make it transphobic per se.

'gender critical' is a really badly used phrasing imo

ignorance can only be used once as an excuse in ALL things. this aint special.
