I’ve had 1 sino-pharm and 1 Astra Zenica

not sure how that works and will probably end up getting the second of both

That's a bit odd isn't it?! Know you had the first one through overseas work, but didn't the person that gave you the AZ dose ask about any previous vaccines? Don't think it's currently recommended to be mixing doses like that is it?

weren't the gvt on about mixing and matching vaccine types last week, claiming it might even be better? It's smelled like bullshit to me and I'd like to see the results of trials rather than just trust Johnsons word

They're doing research on it. Assume bellaozzydog isn't a guinea pig for that though!

I’ve always been quite experimental with drugs:D

the standard screening questions for the Astra Zenica only ask if you have had another vaccination within 7 days, I wasn’t going to bubble myself and miss out.

it looks like I’ll never get an option of a second sino-pharm if everything goes to plan work wise

please seek professional medical advice at all times

I give Covid vaccines, and we ask if any other covid vaccines ever, and any other vaccines within 7 days. Let us know if you get superpowers, or grow a second head.

Being on benefits doesn't give you priority! It's GPs who are sending out notifications, and they wouldn't even know. Blood clotting disorders and heart problems would usually make you high priority so I'm surprised the GP hasn't contacted you yet.

No but I think the fact that I still get off my arse and work even though its a struggle lowers the perception of severity and gets factored in to assesments, I could probably stop and get on the sick but its not how i do things

It doesn't though. It's complete bollocks. Your GP doesn't know or care if you have a job or not. There aren't loads of people ahead of you in the queue just because they're on benefits.

Maybe if you weren't being such an amazing hero by having a job you'd have time to read the criteria.

Had my jab on Thursday. Felt a bit knackered and out of sorts since then, but nothing too bad. Been avoiding alcohol for a couple of days before and since. I read somewhere that it's best to lay off the booze for a couple of weeks after the jab. Alcohol may slow down the buildup of the immune system, but hardly anyone is making a big thing of this. Is it over-reaction, or advisable precaution?

I've not heard that, but holding off alcohol can't do any harm, but it also wouldn't concern me if you didn't bother. (Caveat of if you're drinking too much anyway then it's not going to help all sorts of health issues, maybe including that.)

I'm still going to err on the side of caution. What's a fortnight without a drink if it may help keep you alive? Not that I have a problem, you understand? (Hic)

How do you get contacted when it’s your turn in the vaccine queue? Is it a text or a letter or a phonecall or does it vary?
Not expecting it to be my turn for months but would be good to know.

My parents got a letter each, giving them their NHS number and telling them to go online to book their appointments. It also said that if they weren't able to do it online, they could call this phone number.

Trying not to get too impatient  about my lack of text or letter so far, and my hospital has all along been predicting late March or early April (I'm in the JCVI's priority no. 6 group).

I can't help feeling though that things are proceeding a bit more slowly here in Wales than in England (or maybe the Welsh pace is more or less as expected).

In England, I've just been reading that the vaccination process is going significantly faster than expected -- here's a good summary of this :)

I got a text from my GP on Weds, which was a big surprise given that I'm nowhere near 70, have no health issues and no other reason to get one early.

I had the jab yesterday (Astra Zenica) and have to say I've felt pretty lousy since about 10hrs after - mainly my temperature varying from freezing to burning up, and feeling weak. Although they say these are symptoms experienced by about 10% of people, I'm surprised it's affected me like this because I've never had an allergic reaction to any previous vaccination or anything else. Feeling a bit better now though.

Unexpectedly I had the astra Z jab last week. I had to ring the gp surgery re a routine blood test, no underlying health probs on the list and wasn't expecting it for a couple of months at least. Luckily it was a snowy day, vaccine take up must have been slow and I was offered a jab if I could travel a couple of miles pronto.

So I did. Started getting a nippy headache six hours later, took paracetamol and all good. Was definitely sleepy the next day and had a 4 hour midday 'nap' under the duvet because I was freezing. Still a bit headachey the following day, couple more paracetamol. Fine now.

Got a text last week about a consent form for the jab from my gp. Got another one Friday and I’m having the jab Wednesday. Very surprised to be getting it this soon but my gp still has me with a bmi over 40 so I’m thinking it’s that. Either way, roll on Wednesday!
