Guardsman wears turban

I'm watching the Trooping of the Colour...because it's there. It looks very ridiculous.

Possibly because you have no idea how much skill and effort is involved.

As to the turban... wrong, simply wrong. It is not up to the army to suit the individual, it is up to the individual to suit the army, or simply not join. Uniform is uniform.

In the news earlier

Guardsman first to wear turban at parade

I think that is great news, good to see the army relaxing to allow a bit for individuality but still retain dignity and tradition

I for one am delighted that we're now letting people participate in stupid imperialist pantomimes whilst wearing different hats from the normal ones. Progress.

Sikh soldiers in WW 1 & 2 were allowed to wear turbans instead of helmets. Was that 'wrong: too?
Don't be a silly sausage. Just think before opening your reactionary gob

Yes, it was :). I'm a traditionalist as far as army uniform goes, I didn't even wear Boots Combat High, and was probably the last man in the British Army to wear DMS and puttees. :)

(In truth, I put the things on, noted how uncomfortable they were, and took them back to the stores and swapped for a new pair of DMS. I only wore boots a few times a year, and would never have broken the BCH in.)

Unfortunately I suspect the system of privilege and ceremonial deference to a hereditary monarch will go on longer than that.

Nothing to keep anyone in the UK, if they don't like the system, they are perfectly free to leave for one they like better.

Ha ha ha Mr Mainwaring you doddery auld cunt:D

What? Loyalty to my nation? Life and limb risked in the service of my nation?

36 years ago yesterday I was getting bombed. I was listening to the screams of the dying, whom I could do nothing to help.

I can do without snide comments from gutless cunts who wouldn't have the courage to serve, but sneer at those who did.

Give over, or knock the famous grouse on the head:D

Loyalty to your monarch. Life and limb risked in the service of your monarch and the the system of privilege and ceremonial deference she represents.

Good for you.

You're the one sneering at servicemen for wearing headgear that their religion requires them to wear.

This one's out of uniform too, and I doubt she's a sikh:
